I'm late to the discussion, but this 100%.

If it was that close, and there wasn't clear evidence for the league on whether the puck had crossed the goal line or not, the call on the ice should have remained.

And if there is some other angle with “clear evidence” the fans need to be shown it

If they did that, we’d stop talking about it. Professional sports leagues love controversy (as long as it’s not criminal stuff) because it keeps fans engaged.
