If Barrie misses time, it’ll be Liljegren coming up.

Excited to see Sandin in the WJHC.

Not necessarily, if Marincin plays (which is still possible even though he was sent down) they may prefer a scrub like Schmaltz to sit in the press box instead of call up Liljeren

Doesn't make sense to send Marincin down today if he was going to suit up tomorrow. There is no cap benefit to doing this.

No cap benefit but they may want to give Marincin a run before the put him in an NHL game after sitting out this long

He didn't play today, and the Marlies don't play again until Saturday. And then next game after that is Christmas Day.

Since when is liljegren more ready than Sandin? Not understanding the vibe in this thread. Did people watch training camp and the early parts of the season? Sandin only started struggling based on what appeared to be nerves and too afraid of making mistakes rather than just playing. A large part of that blame has to go to Babcock

Lilly did have a bad training camp, but he and Sandin were always closer than it looked then.

Sandin has the edge in brains and hands, but he could use some physical development, especially since he's not an effortless skater.

Lilly, though, has a man's body now, and has that elite skating as well. He probably doesn't have it in him to ever be a top end offensive dman (though not impossible), but his defense and puck control and movement are great.

Since pretty much forever. Sandin had a nice camp, but besides that, Liljegren has looked far more polished (which is to be expected out of a guy who is a year older).

That's nothing against Sandin, but Liljegren has been tough to match.

We don't judge just based on training camp, we also look at how Lilly has done since then, and he has been great.

I just find it odd that Chris would mention Sandin yesterday in regards to the condition of Barrie, but not Liljegren.
Most media guys have forgotten Liljegren exists. Then you have the extreme side of that with guys like the overdrive crew calling him a bust when they've never watched a Marlies game.

Liljegren is better right now, is already burning the first year of his ELC, might as well try and get some NHL value in that.
