Mangiapane will make you forget Bennett
Somewhere, in a parallel universe, Flames are running Mangiapane - Bennett - Tkachuk as their top line.
Sam got PAID by the panthers 4 x 4.4m
If he keeps up his post deadline play thats a good deal but if he falls back to how he was here that’s a yikes worthy deal.
Hit on the head: Florida is betting that he’ll remain a 2C and then it’s insane value to have a prime 2C with chemistry with huberdeau signed through the window (when Ekblad contract ends)Sam got PAID by the panthers 4 x 4.4m

Huge steal. Bennett is going to get better now that he has a long leash. I fully expect at least one 85+ pt season there during this deal

He has never gotten more than 40 points in a season.
I mean, he was very productive in the playoffs. Just derailed it a bit with his usual bad penalties.Bennett flipped the script in Florida where he was a beast in the regular season and not great in the playoffs. If that continues 4.4 is fair, if he can get it together all play to his potential in both that will seem like a steal
Absolutely baffling that people are still porting over Calgary's wholesale ineptitude over to Florida. One team drafted him at 4th overall then played him out of position, buried him in the bottom six with terrible linemates, little to no powerplay time and limited minutes overall. Then in their infinite wisdom, decided he was never going to be a much of a scorer and needed to accept being a grinder.
The other immediately put in him the top six, played him in his natural position and gave him quality linemates with powerplay time resulting in 20 points in 15 games.
