Strange, Alex Meruelo Jr seemed more interested in selling sweaters than he did winning. Figured this was universal among GM's!

He likes it there. Tavares doesn't waive why would mitchie pooh
Marner is entering a contract season. He’s not playing how the Leafs want and they’ve seemingly moved on from him. Have an honest conversation with him and his agent that if he’s still a Leaf in October, they’ll limit his minutes for someone else who plays the way they want.

Think he wants to stay if it affects his wallet? Leafs can retain salary, which expands options for Marner and the Leafs.

I think it may end up being even easier than financial considerations. If Marner gets the sense he is no longer wanted and that fans have turned on him and / or have demanded he be moved, he would really be tone deaf if he insists on just playing out the last year of his overpriced contract in such a hostile or at the very least, unfriendly environment. Human nature would dictate that he find somewhere he may be accepted. It is amazing what social pressure would do to an otherwise entrenched position.

No Keith, if you were in it to win it, Brendan Shanahan would have been shown the door by now. You’re in it to sell sweaters. Period.

MLSE is enabling the losing attitude allowing this to go on for 9 years now.

Grow a pair and go a different direction.

What’s the definition of insanity again Keith?

Forgive him...............he's new.
How much are tickets going up again??

Shanahan has 1 more yet left and likely at a high amount of millions. MLSE has money, but it's not the best idea to pay someone millions on top of Keefe to sit at home.

Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder then words
Yet people listen to politicians everyday. Hype... people can be manipulated without much thought. SOME of you see through it. Others will wear the Leafs sweater no matter what they do. As long as someone else is to blame all is good.

This is very true (sadly) which is why politicians seem to get a pass from an otherwise apathetic and lethargic public and little changes.

It is frustrating to see that actual excellence and performance is valued less than hurting feelings and stroking ego

In my Dads day in the workplace if his colleagues did not perform they got FIRED. Nowadays you don't even hear that word. And people are given all sorts of opportunities for subsequent chances and multiple concessions. We all work with people who should have been canned years ago but employers are too timid to pull the trigger. Whether for liability reasons or social media optics or whatever. And mediocrity becomes the norm .

shanahan should be embarassed .he threw keefe under the bus ,he looked like a total buffoon
my gosh ,the CEO couldve canned everyone on that podium after all the self guilt they tried to lay on leafs nation
everybody falling over each other taking the blame .its easy to enter a guilty plea with no ramifications

How many coaches and GM's has Shanny had??
Too many eh..............

Going back 10 years, who was the guy who decided Shanny was the brains to hire, to run a hockey team??

He says that but makes the coach the escape goat while Shanny sits there smiling and the GM sits beside him. Should have shipped all of management out and multi players this summer. All management should be gone now and multi players this summer.

escape goat, haha.

It's been what, a week or so?

Shit will happen. Leafs fans know this.

That's odd because they're really good at selling jerseys and not so good with winning.

Do people actually believe this :laugh:
Of course, MLSE wants to win. The question is whether they have the intestinal fortitude to realize that the team as currently constructed is not getting done and major changes need to be made. Matthews is going nowhere. So, which of the other members of the "core" are out the door? I think Marner is the prime candidate.

"Why is everything about the Leafs"

"Stop shoving the leafs down our throat"

"This is why everyone hates the Leafs"

- The same fans that proceed to keep talking about the Leafs.

There's what like 5-6 threads on the mains created by non-leaf fans, all near the top of the discussion, meanwhile we're in round 2 of the playoffs, but people still can't help themselves from talking about Toronto.

If I was a board member I'd have a sit down with Keith and tell him, yes in fact we are here to sell jerseys and lots of other stuff.

So what exactly is the Shanaplan? Does it require keeping Shanahan employed regardless of results?
Was it built to succeed in a non-cap league? Does it regard draft picks as chump change and focus on free agency?
Kind of seems like a blind GPS system directing your car over a cliff.
