#16 jersey is available on the Bruins for him. Does he have any connection with the number 16?

Breaks Darryl Sittlers record of 10 points in a single game in his debut next Saturday. Too much, too soon?
Sittler record is going down but it will be Matt 'the Magician' Barzal who shatters that.

If they sign Donato today or tomorrow they can get him in on off day Sunday to get equipment and maybe a skate

If he's as good as believed you burn the year to have every advantage to win the Cup.

Been going to these games forever and these are good times - deep talented skilled balanced with a entertaining style

If they hit on Donato it makes the on ice team better and June very interesting at Draft week

Nooooooooo!!!!!! Lol

If you are around tomorrow morning I need an OHL scouting report and Studnicka update

I just think it's pointless to sign him now, burn the year and have him become an RFA after next season. Because that's what we're looking at for twelve games.

Yeah, I will call you tomorrow with your scouting report and updates on both Studnicka and the forgotten man KYLE KEYSER

I don't know about that, Donato has NHL level talent and the Bruins are trying to win a Cup and have him at their disposal, it should be a no-brainer, if you can get him signed and on board, you do-it.

That 2014 draft!
Disappointing playoffs but... win the President's trophy, only have five picks, but walk away with arguably the best player (top 3 anyways) in the draft in Pastrnak. That would've been a home run on it's own.
But to get Heinen and Bjork in the 4th and 5th.
And now if Donato can have an impact!

That's as good as a draft gets and unbelievable considering where they were drafting.

Chiarelli's farewell present to the Bruins and a nice bookend with his first (pseudo) draft, getting Kessel, Lucic and Marchand.
(now if only they could've drafted half as good a few more times during his tenure)

That 2014 draft was an absolute home run of a draft. Don't forget that they took Emil Johansson in the 7th as well who is playing in Providence, and definitely has NHL potential.

5 picks, and they nailed all 5.

Dom, I've always thought that it might be better for teams to burn that first year sometimes and am surprised more teams don't try it - as it allows the team to get them on that second contract before they've fully proven themselves and might be more cost effective down the road.

Pastrnak. He was NHL ready and played half the season so it's not a great example - but as far as second contracts, it probably saves the Bruins a few million per year long term being able to have signed him last summer (and could've looked at extending him the summer before) than if he hadn't played at 18, was just finishing his ELC now and you were having to get him on a new contract this summer after another dynamic ppg season, was much more proven, and The Cap was going up.

Not every time of course but if your comfortable believing a player is going to be a long term NHLer and part of your organization and have your Cap somewhat in order, it might work better to get them on that second contract before they've proven themselves over a few years.

Dom can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe due to Donato's age when he signs, he can only sign a 2 year ELC, much like Vesey.

Not sure burning a year of that for 6 games is the way to go.

Too bad they never held onto their 3rd. With the way they drafted that year they probably would've walked away with Brayden Point.
Following that up with (people disagree with the picks) but three first rounders and three seconds, with DeBrusk and Carlo already mainstays, McAvoy the following, and it shows how you don't have to tank and make your fans suffer through years of brutal hockey to rebuild your team. Not only for Bruins fans but for the league in general, it would do wonders if this team could be right up there and win a couple of Cups, as fans from other teams that have suffered through years of being sold this 'tear it down and get high picks and we promise we'll be better one day.' can point to the Bruins and demand better.

Back to Donato. I'm excited to see how he looks out there and hope that it's sooner than later. Even if only for a few games.

That was me. And I think he signs for two. But that also means you could extend him this summer if you believe that he's part of the organization long term.
My point was that you might be better off in the long run getting him on that second contract next summer after one full season before he's truly proven himself than eking out that one extra year of an ELC and having to pony up after two seasons when he can simply demand more money.

This is on the presumption that he's an impactful NHLer - which is to be determined.

How does a healthy lineup look going into playoffs?

Marchand Bergeron Pastrnak
DeBrusk Krejci Nash61
Heinen Nash20 Backes
4th line

Where does Donato fit? Maybe he bumps Heinen?

Going into the playoffs, you are going to bump a 40 pt NHL regular and the B’s 5th leading scorer for a kid (while promising) that hasn’t played a single professional game?

Sounds like a good idea when you put it that way...

Well to be fair, Heinen hasn't been that great. And he put up those points earlier in the season. Now, sure that could change.

But from everything I've seen, I think Donato can help. Did ANYONE expect Charlie to help as he did? Nope.

I think Ryan can help. I take the chance. Let him play. He's got the skills. He's a leader. I'm not worried about next year. The Bruins have a legit shot at the Cup. I'll take all the help. And this is the time, while Bergy is hurt to flip some things around.

Bump Nash down to the 4th and play Backes at center. Even if they don’t bring in Donato they could play Gionta instead of Acciari.
