Very intrigued by Nyman. Great shot, big body, works hard. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have some kind of NHL career.

This kid is a load and can score in different ways. Looks like a future complimentry power forward with good PP tools. The Kraken absolutely killed the 2nd and 3rd rounds of last year's draft...Nyman, Goyette, Firkus, Kokko, Ty Nelson. Beniers and Wright to build down the middle. Some really underrated gems like Ryker Evans and Ryan Winterton as well. And a good team already at the NHL level. Got to tip the hat to Francis and co here after a lot of initial skepticism - this franchise looks setup pretty beautifully for a team from scratch.

Jani "Laine" Nyman

Nyman looks to have respectable production for an 18 year old playing the Liiga with 13 points in 26 games. I looked up Kemell to compare and was surprised that he only had 10 points in 29 games on a different team.

How is Nyman's overall game like? Is he decent defensively? Does he mainly produce on the PP or Evens? Just curious to learn a little more.

Kemell’s current production isn’t very indicative of his skill. He plays for a dinosaur coach who prefers his vets over younger guys. Plays mainly on the 3rd and 4th lines. Same dinosaur coach was fired from the u20 team mid-tournament because the players demanded it. So he has a history of not dong well with young players.

Nyman has 2 PP goals and 4 PP points out of 9 total goals and 13 points. 30% PP point percentage. So he's been scoring mostly 5on5.

For comparison, Kemell has 60% PP point percentage, so he's been a PP specialist.

Nyman has good compete level. Not sure about his defensive game. Weakness is skating.

He’s been playing pretty sheltered minutes (12:37 per game) and isn’t trusted a lot in defensive situations, which is to be expected of an 18 year old rookie on one of the best teams in the league. He’s not a liability defensively by any means. Plays the right side shooter position on the PP2 (PP1 and PP2 play pretty evenly though). Has a very shoot first mentality and can really rip the puck. He’s good at protecting the puck and is very strong especially for an 18 year old. Has had no problems with the physicality of a professional mens league. Also has pretty good hands but occasionally tries to dangle too much and loses the puck. I don’t think his skating is much of a concern, he’s not a great skater by any means but big kids tend to take a while to get comfortable so I think he can become a good enough skater for the nhl level. He’s a ways away from being nhl ready but he projects as a nice goal scoring powerforward. Next season I believe he’ll really break through big time in Liiga and after that it’s probably time to head overseas.

Hat trick is very nice, but it's good to remember that SaiPa is easily the worst team in Liiga.
