i think a lot of times are gonna be interested in Hudler come the trade deadline. Is it unrealistic to think we might be able to swing a 1st from Chicago, Florida, or Nashville?

Anything is possible. Anywhere from a 3rd to a Filip Forsberg. :naughty:

I think he will return a 1st from a contender if not more if he is moved. I know some have doubted his value but given how few sellers there are I think Hudler will be highly sought after.

In the past 10 games he has definitely raised his value pass Vrbata too which is great

Don Maloney said its fair to say G Anders Lindback is out for the season.

Hiller for a franchise pick (4th rounder). Go go Treliving

This would get us about $1M cap space for next year. Howard of course is signed until 2019 which can be a good or a bad thing depending on his future play. Anyway, we are definitely closer to beggars than choosers in this goaltending issue and a deal like this is something I'd consider. I don't know if the Wings would have any interest however.

more like:

Howard 50% retained plus Manta for Wideman and Culkin

Even then I think Calgary gets screwed

As nice as it would be for our cap to get Wideman off the books, Howard is not someone I would want to move him for. Howard isn't a solution to our goalie problems and he is signed for longer than Wideman.

I don't think a lot of posters here realize how BAD Howard actually is! (Contract/term/play)

I just don't get why people would propose deals with him in involved, especially after the lukewarm goaltending we've received this season. Howard = 2 more seasons of ****** goaltending and frustration

A backup goalie with 15.6 Mill in salary... You could likely get Bernier for Wideman and Bernier's contract is better and can still be looked at as having potential.. Howard is worth nowhere near Wideman who is a 17-19 min a night Defenseman Right hand shot, PP specialist.. Yeah Manta is definitely in play. If Detroit takes back salary then they get Culkin/ Agostino/ Grant or Morrison.

I like the Wideman for Bernier deal.

SO do I but I think Bernier is much better than this season has shown. There are some that don't think the same way I do.

Dollar wise it lines up. It fills a need in goal. Both are UFA's at the end of the season. TO needs a good veteran D-man. Only problem is Wideman would have to give his blessing but with Babcock in TO it might not be as big a leap as one might think.

I like the Wideman for Bernier deal.

Calgary should of worked out a deal when Toronto was trying to dump Bernier earlier on in the season. I know we had sent scouts there and there were discussions regarding Bernier but then Reimer ended up having an injury so I guess nothing was worked out. Bernier is def an upgrade on Ramo and Hiller because he still has some upside. Hiller is done as starter in this league. Ramo basically is a Jimmy Howard. In my opinion, Bernier could still be a low risk high reward type player if Toronto is still willing to move him.
