With a base deal of something like this:

Petry (50% retained) + Purcell
for
Richards (25% retained) + 1st

I wonder if Jones/Fasth could be worked in there. It really could be a benefit to both teams.

Edmonton gets a veteran/gritty centre, a 1st rounder and a young goalie.
LA gets that awful contract of their hands, a rental top-4 dman and a depth winger.

Petry is UFA after this year and If the kings are giving up their first I think they would want either someone like Pitlick or Maracin going back--25% is still a cap hit of 4.31mill

Agree, they are also trying to clear cap space. Would have to switch out Purcell. Like the premise with Jones, 1st and richards w retained tho. And hopefully he turns it around..

I wonder if they would want to trade that first rounder though in a relatively deep draft. I don't think they do it.

Lehner is regressing at this stage of his career. He's no better than what we've got in goal now and there's no guarantee he's going to figure it out. Curtis Lazar has a great attitude I agree. But he projects to be a 2nd/3rd liner in this league.

Lazar+Lehner+1st falls under the "not even close" category.

Ottawa fans want to know what kind of package that the Oilers would need for Hall. Look at the Nash to Rangers deal.

Dubinsky - 26 year old 2nd line center
Anisimov - 24 year old 3rd line center
Erixon - At that time a blue chip prospect
1st round pick

Rick Nash was a significantly older player on a worse contract who like Hall had just had an off year. But unlike Hall hadn't been a top 10 scorer in the two years previous.

So Lazar+Lehner+1st? Add Turris and we can start talking. And I'm not even remotely joking. Taylor Hall isn't getting traded for prospects, picks and projects.

Instead of Turris how about Cowen? I agree that the return would likely be quite high but then look at the Seguin trade, Dallas gave up less than the NYR did IMO and Seguin is on a cheaper deal than Hall and had comparable stats at least last season. If Ottawa added Cowen onto that deal I would be fine with dealing Hall.

Seguin at the time of his trade had never come close to anything Hall had done. Not even a close. And that was a terrible trade for Boston. Will go down as one of the worst of the past decade easily imo. Funny, they've managed that twice now. First with Thornton, and now again with Seguin.

No thanks to Cowen. Needs to be better than that. Cowen is still just a bottom pairing d-man in this league. The Oilers need sure fire bets if they are trading Hall. As I said. Prospects, picks and projects aint gonna cut it.

The more I think about it the more I like richards on the Oilers--if they take back Ference and Nikitan or Schultz
Nikitin, Schultz for Richards (30% Retained) , 2015 2nd

Sign that Hersley...

Pouliot - RNH - Eberle
Hall - Roy - Yakupov
Lander - Richards - Purcell
Hendricks - Gordon - Klinkhammer

Klefbom - Fayne
Marincin - Petry
Ference - Hersley

Thanks for all the input, guys. For Ottawa, dealing Turris as well in a trade is pointless because then we have no #1C to play with Hall (and Turris isn't even a 1C.. we lack top end talent). Zibanejad ain't gonna cut it as a first liner with Turris gone, and it seems like RNH isn't going anywhere. I could see adding Cowen if that was the tipping point, though, as long as the Sens can re-sign Methot.

Hersley is a late bloomer. Have been good with Team Sweden aswell.

Not soft. Hardest shot on the planet. Monster in PP.

Thanks, I found out that he's a RH shot so that would be a good compliment to RNH IMO. How is his skating? I assume that is his weak point?

His last 2 seasons in Boston:

81gp. 29-38-67
48gp. 16-16-32

Hall during the same time:

61gp. 27-26-53
45gp. 16-34-50

Hall's stats were better but realistically Hall's stats now are similar to Seguin's then and he is a few years older than Seguin was then and has a little less time left on his contract than Seguin did.

Cowan is bad bad bad.

That's what I heard but many Sens fans on the trade board were saying otherwise. At one point he looked like a solid young d-man.

How has Cowen been?

Richards has had some serious problems off the ice in the past. He's blessed to be surrounded by stars in LA.

We dont need a cancer like him here.

Agreed. Call me officially jaded. In a hurry for some change I suppose.

Watch us pass. Who wants a guy who's won two Stanley Cups, Calder Cup, Memorial Cup, an Olympic gold medal and a World Junior Championship gold medal and was part of two of the 4 teams in history to rally from a 0-3 playoff deficit and who plays center, was runner up for a Selke, plays physical and has a history of scoring.

Oilers are in talks with Patrik Hersley's agent, according to reports in swedish newspaper Aftonbladet: http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockey/internationellt/khl/article20223172.ab

Had 24 goals in 51 games last year for Leksand in SHL. Has 15 goals in 46 games for Sibir in the KHL this year. D-man, PP specialist with a rocket of a shot.

A dman who manages to score more goals, than assists? He sounds like a guy who'd help our PP a lot, so I'd be happy if we gave him a shot. What's the worst that could happen?

it's already confirmed that we aren't claiming Richards (assuming that's who you mean). We could still trade for him but it's doubtful

And despite all that the Kings are willing to give him away for free and no one is willing to take him. He sucks. What about this don't people get? The guy is toast and he will be making about as much as Taylor Hall for the next 5 years.

5.75 mill being sent down this could hurt LA long term. Even if they buy him out if the cap doesn't go up they will need to make some moves.
