Dark horse names Chia is looking at:

Rick Nash
Matt Niskanen
Alex Killorn
Tomas Tatar

I could also see him offering Hanzal a short term deal.

This would immensely improve our D. Would be an amazing grab.

Capitals best D-man.

marleau-a perplexing combination of old and fast. i dont think hes a fit as much as people like the idea. he's 38 and never played for another team.....i feel like there is a dropoff coming if not an adjustment period. don't need to spend this much? (4m)

williams-a good playoff pickup and plays the rw. not sure i want to spend over 2 million. (3m?)

pirri-sure. i'm in the mood for a well targeted reclamation. (1)

josefson-see above (1)

desjardins-depth center is a need (1)

upshall/king-fiesty depth guys. (1)

kulikov-probably not but he could come cheap. (2?)

ahl tweener d-yes please.

ahl tweener winger-sure.

Personally like to see these guys picked up if the price is right, along with Pirri who to me just makes sense at the price hes going to go for

This is outta nowhere..
Niskanen is worth more than Larsson.. Doubt Chia would be after him unless he is ready to cough up Puljujarvi

The key is to be publicly "interested" in the wrong players so Calgary goes after them

He has played for Todd though.

I'd love to see him in an Oilers jersey.

Nash is the only one that we could afford, assuming tatar signs semi long term

also more interesting if we go off stauffers jibbering about the buyout being a move for deadline cap space.

possible deadline rentals;

Mike Green
John Tavares
Tyler Bozak
Leo Komarov
Cam Atkinson
Antoine Roussell
etc.

I'm hoping for the following:

McDavid signed for 8 years at whatever figure.

RNH traded for a RHD with a reasonable cap hit (Dumba, Pesce, etc.)

Hanzal signed for 4 years at 4M AAV

Hemsky/Versteeg signed for 2 years at 2.5M AAV

Pirri signed for 1 year at 1.25M

Draisaitl signed for 2 years at 5.5M AAV (maybe not until September)

Maroon - McDavid - Puuljujarvi
Lucic - Draisaitl - Caggiula
Slepyshev - Hanzal - Hemsky/Versteeg
Pakarainen - Letestu - Kassian
Pirri - Khaira

Klefbom - Larsson
Russell - Benning
Nurse - Dumba
Gryba - Fayne (Sekera LTIR)

Talbot
Brossoit

yikes... and im thinking more of a PTO to add some competition for our wingers.

Hemsky came back from his injury last season playing very well. He won't get a PTO, he will get a 1-2 year contract from a team who could use a skilled forward still. Essentially what the Oilers should do. top 2 RW at the moment is strome and kassian, strome is a borderline top 6 fwd and kassian is perfect third line winger.

Look through the top available free agents this free agency and you wont find Hemsky anywhere in the top 30..

There are just too many old RWer available this offseason:
Radulov, Jagr, Williams, Sharp, Iginla, Doan, Vrbata, Versteeg.. No one is going to sign Hemsky to a multi year deal ..

Look at what Versteeg just signed to.

Wait, is this just your speculation, or is this info from some other source? Just a bit confused by the wording of that.

Hartnell being bought out by the Jackets? RNH for Jenner and a pick anyone? Sign Marleau with the savings.

Or RNH for Dumba and signe Hanzal/Bonino.

This Pouliot buyout smells funny. Chia is up to something.

Jenner would fit this team.

I would agree with this.

Hemsky adds to team speed, which is quietly an issue right now, but Sharp shoots the puck and plays both sides.

He's a player you could get for real cheap, too.

My only worry with Sharp is the fact he had some health issues last year and didn't share it until just before the trade deadline. If his health issues are still there, I'd be very worried about signing him.
