Capitals’ prospect Madison Bowey ejected for questionable hit

The Hershey Bears may have to play Game 5 of their Calder Cup playoff series on Sunday without the services of defenceman Madison Bowey.

Bowey was ejected from Game 4 on Friday night after catching Toronto Marlies forward Kasperi Kapanen with an elbow to the head.

The 21-year-old Washington Capitals prospect was assessed a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct.

If the hit wasn’t bad enough, as Bowey was being escorted to the penalty box, he appeared to utter a slur in Kapanen’s direction.

We have like the most awesome team, why is Hershey giving us trouble? I have kept up with articles and I know that our young guys are doing fine, but what is lacking? I would really appreciate your analysis and views! : ) GO MARLIES, GO!

The biggest trouble that Hershey is causing is putting a hot goalie in net. Aside from the 3rd period of game 3, the Marlies have been creating enough scoring chances to win games, they just haven't been able to put enough pucks past Peters.


Imo, the biggest thing that the Marlies lack is the ability to shutdown the opponent and prevent them from creating offense. All season long, they've been able to outscore any defensive deficiencies, so they haven't needed to clog up the neutral zone and slow the game down to prevent any offensive chances (for either side). In the classic "defense wins championships" mode, they are finding out that 1) they can no longer outscore their problems and 2) they need to be able to lock the game down defensively in the playoffs.

If you are looking for any information about a game (of any sport) just look to Reddit.

For instance if you are looking for information about a Marlies game search in Google, "Toronto Marlies Reddit" in there you will find a GDT thread (much like this one) and in there will be all the information you would want about that game.

This will work for the Leafs, and pretty much any sporting event (I would imagine).
