How exactly do they fit that under the cap? Lobby Bettman for a special Rangers exemption?

I've been on that bandwagon.

It would take a lot of moving parts.... or Trouba or Panarin waiving? doubtful. Or by that time maybe Zibs? also doubtful. A deal is technically possible but there are a lot of hurdles

Can't imagine Hunt or Reaves would fetch much of a return. Georgiev has zero value since he could be signed for less than his QO. Nemeth we'd be lucky to break even.

Lundkvist and Kravtsov seem the obvious choices, but with Schneider's struggles of late it might be early to write off Nils.

Offseason to do list is pretty straightforward imo

1. Dump Nemeth to a team who will take him or hope he retires
2. Thank him for his service and let Strome walk
3. Re-sign Copp & Motte
4. Bridge Kakko & QO Blais
5. Sign Charlie Lindgren to backup Igor

It works with the cap. Let this team continue to mature together and we will contend for a Cup.

I'm not sure about Lindgren but I'm fine with the rest of this list.

Add -- Monetize Hajek, Gauthier & Georgiev. There will be a market for Georgiev from some team willing to give him a 1B contract.

I’d rather just give Gauthier another off-season to see if a light flickers on and he can make the team (again lol). If he can’t, just waive him. I’ve heard of bull markets and bear markets but I don’t think we’re in a goat market
