I don’t get it, trouba didn’t play that bad last night. He was physically engaged, when he wasn’t forced to cover for miller’s mistakes he clearly played well. He may never be the defender who can dominate and tilt the ice by himself, but if he has a solid partner he can easily be worth that contract.
Which doesn’t define a #1 defenseman.

The omen of all omens... Laf's first shift of his NHL career.... cut short by Jack Johnsons penalty.

cue team death spiral.
Ya know, I thought lafs first few shifts looked really good. But as time wore on, he seemed to start thinking too much due to the lack of cohesiveness.

Georgie in net tomorrow. I would have pulled Shesty after the third goal yesterday and let him reset tomorrow, but what do I know.

Aside for the actual on ice results, Ive been over DQ since he played McQuaid over TDA, routinely benched Buch, the Lias debacle, amongst other things, all the while regurgitating the same nothing burger statements about all of em

The stink of that opening loss and the playin round exit is like the preamble to becoming the 2010 Oilers and the current Sabres. I'm fine with losing and waiting on the timeline but I hope they bring something more tomorrow. This is the 4th consecutive game where we've had all the motivation and reason in the world to be our best and we've been putrid.

We looked great last year before covid, for some reason our stars need time to get their feet moving. I think we will look better every night.

Not enough veteran presence.

The Rangers have a handful of reliable veteran players. They desperately need 2-3 more.

It's going to take a while for the Rangers to overcome this. If they are able to this year. Not a lot of roster wiggle room.

Just remember, I first guessed this during the summer.

my guess is this gets addressed next offseason when the dead space is gone

But HF told me the way to build a championship team was to trade every player for picks once they turn 25

If the team was set on signing a random defenseman (ie JJ) their priority should have been a Finnish born player. There has been no investment made to ease the transition of a 2nd overall pick who is a teenager learning english in a foreign country during a pandemic. He is a lost puppy

I’m not sure you want to make personnel decision based on language and nationalities. First, if you said they needed more Americans or Canadians there are plenty who would start calling you xenophobic. Second, maybe the two guys hate each other or don’t have anything in common and rarely talk. Kakko is 19 and there’s no guarantee he starts paling around with a married 30 year old guy with 2 kids bc they just so happen to share Finnish as their first language. I guess if you want to employ some Finnish trainer who maybe Kakko knows as an assistant to come over if he feels that awkward then go ahead. I just wouldn’t make a personnel decision based on “give me a list of available fins.”
