Leafs have filled their roster with experienced nhlers who have stayed in the league because they are coachable and will work hard. Not highly talented. Not young with a future--with a couple exceptions only--. That means they can win on any night in a league with so many games and so much travel. The Sabres are trying to win by playing youngsters with upside-Reinhart aged 20, Ullmark aged 22, Ristoleinen aged 21, Eichel 19, McCabe 22, Pysyk 23, Girgenson 23 etc. Old guys like Kane 24, O'Reilly 24 and Bogosian at 25 are the team leaders. When Toronto tries to bring their youngsters into the lineup they will see just how uneven the team will play and look while it finds itself. That will be a roller coaster ride-but should be fun.

Brendan Shanahan, Toronto Maple Leafs President, joins Dave Naylor and Dave Feschuk on TSN Drive to talk about the new logo, the importance of embracing the history of the team, what to expect from the Leafs at the trade deadline, the culture change around the team this season, and if any of the young Marlies will see time with the Leafs before the end of the year.

The leafs have made enormous improvements from last year to this year in consistency and structure. The team actually has a structure in place now rather than playing the pond hockey structure they did last year. They also play as a team this year rather than just playing as individuals (Kessel). Babcock has done wonders for us and trading Kessel defiantly helped.

I love that we are actually in a rebuild. No spin job here or beating around the bush. We are in a rebuild and our drafting is so awesome. Mark Hunter looks like has found a few steals already. Get him more picks and let him do the rest. Sadly someone in this thread is underestimating him and using all their eggs in the basket.
The best part is finally a 100% committed rebuild.
The rebuild will take some time but I am glad its actually going on for once.

From what I got is he's clearly committed to a full rebuild and says it will take time they expect next year to be no different, no quick fixes
