Vancouver maybe just lost Brock Boeser... maybe. He was crawling to the bench from halfway across the ice and the refs refused to blow the whistle even when Vancouver had full possession. What an odd sequence.

Anyway, this hurts our chances... we need Vancouver to win. With Horvat and now Boeser out, we just cant compete with their awfulness!

Dang, Tanking is hard. Lol

It's not easy getting to the bottom 3 when there's other teams out there worse than us. Damn you Lakin, Mantha and Howard!!! Damn you!!!

What is the (Row) number?

What is the (Row) number?

Regulation Overtime Wins. It only counts wins that aren't acquired in the shootout. It's used as a tiebreaker for standings, if it comes to that. I think it's more meaningful than points, to be honest, because the shootout is basically worthless for determining anything.

Yeah, what Bench said...

At the end of the year, that will be the point tie breaker.

But during the season, it breaks ties with games played first, then row.

But end of the year, all teams will be 82 games played.... so row.

Detroit plays tonight vs Islanders.

Other than that, 5 teams playing. 9 points avail.... (Mtl plays Van)

Detroit could end the night 25, 26, 27 or 28th.

Gonna be hard to catch Ottawa. All the drama surrounding Karlsson and Melnyk ... wow.
Meanwhile Florida coach Bob Boughner coaches like a guy who took too many punches to the head.

Detroit with the win. Good win though. Got outclassed until the 3rd, then came alive. Lots of points to spread around. Couple more wins and we may have to rename this thread.

The win brings Detroit within range of a bunch of teams. Detroit ends the night in the 26 spot.

Other than that, 4/9 points for tank drive.

Dang, a couple of wins changes everything. amazing how tight the bottom is. Parity.
During the entirety of this thread, Detroit started in 27th, and is currently in 26th. The phrase, 'changes everything' seems a bit strong.

well, something's changed. I think we've dropped another point or two back in the playoff race. We're six behind the Islanders for the wild card and now six back of Boston. They really need to start beating Boston when they play them.

1 win and Detroit could jump to 23rd. That's not as good as a draft pick as 27th. Point is, Wings going on a 3 game winning streak isn't helping them.

Oh, did you mean that a couple MORE wins would change everything? If that's the case, I misunderstood. I had interpreted it as if you claimed these past two wins reshaped the landscape.

Regulation loss is huge. If not Detroit's at 35 and Philly is at 35.
The good news is that Boston is pulling away for the Atlantic's final spot.
The bad news is the last wild card spot seems like the ugly girl at the homecoming dance and nobody wants to take her home.
The other bad news is that Montreal, Florida and Ottawa are doing absolutely nothing.
The bottom five teams in the conference are Atlantic division teams.

Not going to need MTL, FLA and OTT to do anything. The two wild card spots will likely be taken by Metro teams. As long as Boston, Toronto and Tampa keep going there's zero chance at somehow magically sneaking in. Willing to bet the Canadiens and Senators both make a serious push and finish ahead of us regardless.

Right, but I think some are hoping for a top 3 pick, which will be difficult to reach, with all the teams playing lousy hockey at the same time.

We will need lottery luck, Arizona won't start winning games, but I will say Buffalo is a team that could come on hot let and win them selves out of the cellar.

I don't think 3rd will be hard it will between us and Ottawa I'd both teams sell off, and imagine Detroit if we sell Mrazek and green and then Howard gets hurt... "we built tank city" lol...

My real question... How far ahead are Dahlin and Svech compared to Bodqvist? Is this a race for top 2 or is this kid closing the gap.
