There is a guy named Steve Anthoney who plays for the Halifax Bantam hockey team. Just like Crosby he played bantam as an underager and lead the league in scoring just like Crosby. Anthoney got something like 184 points or something last year in Bantam it said in the local paper, Crosby in his bantam year got 200 points right on. Anthoney is being sought after by all the major prep schools in the USA and Canada to play and he could play Midget AAA hockey as a 14 year old in the Halifax area just like Crosby did.

Remember the name Steve Anthony he is going to be a good one, not saying he will be another Sidney or not...but the talent is there for him to be special if he keeps it up. People say he is possibly the most talented player they have seen since Sidney Crosby, and that he is just flat out amazing on the ice for being only 13 years old dominating Bantam hockey. He is also one of the best baseball players for his age in Canada and could have a career in that as well if he chose that route.

Haha sounds like we have a Mario-Gretzky type situation approaching. (Just Kidding for those that plan on writing an angry post).

Or a Daigle-Falloon. ;)

Expect to see both of these guys on the Flyers' 3rd line in 10 years.

Unlikely, but not impossible. There always seems to be a cycle of truly great players, there's usually a bit of an absence "like now" which is then followed by at least 1 great player, and when there's one there's usually another one to follow just so that there's another in the same league!!! Imagine how much greater Gretzky's accomplishments would've looked with no Mario, or vice versa for that matter. Look at basketball, Bird and Magic, Russell and Chamberlain, etc. It's rare for a singular star to be solely in the lime-light for a prolonged ammount of time.

Money wise, play baseball. Other than that, go for hockey. Allot of football-baseball players pick baseball for the money and longer career...

I think Tessier did not play in the same category last year as Crosby did in his year...

Yeah, I just looked through the prep stats off of Shattuck's website and the leading scorer was Toews (64-48-62-110), followed by Michael Gergen, an '87 from Minny, who put up 56 goal and 106 points in 66 games. Tessier isn't on the roster.

I don't even see this Kelsey Tessier on the JV team. Where exactly is he playing and are his numbers really anything to write home about (if he's just playing with players his own age)?

for the record, Anthony is a 1991 born.

Also of note is Kelsey Tessier, a 1990 born from New Brunswick, he played last season in Shattuck St. Mary's and scored 133 points in 65 games.

Tessier played on Shattuck's Bantam team - which is like their "C" or "D" team. It's not even close to the team that guys like Crosby, Stafford and Parise played on.

Crosby didn't play at Shattuck's when he was 14. He was a 15 yr old when he played on the midget team there.

You'd all be surprised, but about a year ago, or even more, I came upon a sim league web site, and the league was quite serious since they could draft players that weren't drafted by the NHL yet, and Anthony was already drafted as part of the 2008 crop, although he was the only one.

Will he go the college route?

Steven Anthony is going to be a great hockey player. He not only has great skills, he has the size to go with it. He is already 6 feet and 180 lbs. He is projected to be around 6'2"-6'4" and 210 + when fully grown.

Although possibly biased, his aunt and uncle tell me that he is a wonderful kid. He has not let any of the notoriety go to his head. He is alot like Crosby, a well spoken polite young man.

He is already being touted as a possible first overall QMJHL pick however, he is not sure which hockey route to go. There have already been BCHL teams inquiring about his services, should he decide to go the NCAA route.

If he's going NCAA his best route would be go to the USHL.

I dont think anyone said Tavares wasnt a good player.

Just because we arent talking about Toronto doesnt mean you need to throw a temper tantrum. There is more to Canada than just Toronto.
