I always found Mark Messier's helmet to be ridiculous. Funny too, cause he chose it based on the mirror test. Imagine how stupid everything else must've looked?

I seem to recall Sundin had a pretty funky looking helmet in his early years-was it a Jofa?- just recall it looking....different.

Someone mentioned Fleury's Yellow Pads....Ouch on the eyes.

I heard from someone many years ago that Mike Palmateer had a specially made stick, some composite material or somethign like that-any truth to that?

Bunny Laroque with his playboy bunny helmet...awesome :)

I remember seeing Zdeno Chara standing next to Niklas Andersson during a Frölunda vs Färjestad SEL-game of the lockout season, realizing Chara's stick was longer than Niklas. It's longer than the usual max length right?

yes, but not longer than Willie Mitchell's hehe The NHL max is 63" but players are granted exceptions.

He's definitely more famous than his mask, but Hasek's full cage skater's helmet is definitely memorable.

Here's another one I just remembered. My buddies and I used to catch Pens games on TV years ago when Tocchet played for them. One of us noticed that he (most of the time) has his sleeves rolled up over his elbow pads, usually leaving his wrists pretty exposed. This probably isn't the best picture but you get the idea.

Ulfie's suit of armour, most notably the huge frickin' shoulder pads.

Pelle Lindbergh's mask.

Johan Hedberg's Blue Moose helmet.

As has been mentioned already, Fleury's yellow pads.

And then there was the day when MAF debuted this helmet.

Very old thread, but it's golden.

A new one that I haven't seen, Alex Semin's jersey tuck.

Along with Felix Potvin's pads and mask.

I like his Toronto pads and helmet the best, but Felix was my 1st real inspiration to play goalie. He was my dad and mine's favorite player on the Canucks in 2001 and that's when I really got into hockey. I owe a lot to Felix.
