Harvey is mature beyond his years, season is probably over but hopefully he'll comeback 100%. 18 years old and played winger until this preseason and has now 3 consecutive starts in PL at central midfield, very impressive

Live it looked like he went to the side of him and won the ball but Elliot’s ankle just got caught under him.

I don’t wanna watch the reply to confirm or reject that though.

Awful tackle. Crazy. Still don't know what Klopp is doing on the pitch lobbying the referee, though.*

*Note: only seen a clip of the incident. Not sure if he was mainly just checking on Elliott.

He was checking on the player. But I’m sure he was also complaining about the fact that he has let physical fouls just go, and here’s the result

He was also checking on the player, but he spent a solid minute yelling at the ref not looking at the player and the ref basically escorted him back to the sideline. It's not unexpected in that situation, and everyone handled it normally (aka, ref just walking him back and not doing anything about it) but it's silly to pretend it didn't happen.

A physical game doesn't just breed that tackle. It was dumb and dangerous, not "physical" such as it is.

Like when a physical hockey game gets an idiotic boarding that's just vicious. The onus is always on the player.

He was pissed because these changes to make the game more physical have made these injuries far more likely. It's understandable.

Yes and no. If you issue warnings and bookings, there is some impact. If you just let it go, the contact and physicality can escalate.

That doesn’t mean it will or won’t result in a leg breaker. But the ref does have some control in the situation if he just lets things go

100% a foul and a red. Studs up over the top of the ball, scissor tackled his leg. Obvious result followed from this with a horrific injury.

It was a horrendous challenge. The likelihood of hurting someone while tackling with both feet from behind like that is very high.

I will say, Struijk did genuinely look remorseful. Don’t think he was trying to break Harvey. Just unfortunate. This wasn’t a case of Funes Mori on Origi and they kissing the Everton badge on the way down the tunnel after taking him out.

I cannot focus on the rest of the game

I can understand Klopp's outrage... i'd be highly emotional if i saw my player done for the season on a careless tackle.. if it was hockey Struijk would be getting an immediate punch in the mouth..and deservedly so.
