Just skipped through the game. Maybe the Phillies didn't do so badly in the Curtis Mead trade? Didn't realize that Sanchez was the guy they got for him.

Wouldn't go that far. Mead is a career .300 hitter in the minors and a top 100 prospect for a couple years now.

Sanchez had almost as many walks as strikeouts in AAA this year. He's probably not as good as he's thrown of late. The intriguing part of that trade was Sanchez was supposed to be an upper 90s guy and the velocity has just never been there as a Phillie.

2:1 K to BB rate too which is a pretty good sign from a 20-22 yr old in the minors with some magnitude of projectable pop

He was originally called up May 10th, so he has just under 60 days of service time. To qualify for "Super-Two" status which would mean an extra year of arbitration and not 'team determined salary' the cutoff is generally around 115-135 days of service time. If he stayed up the entire season that would be another 90 days or so of service time getting him to 150 and assuring he'd he "Super Two" status if he was a regular player the next 2 seasons.

That seems pretty shitty considering how well he's been doing this year.

I thought this was illegal now? But also, isn't this pretty common for younger guys during the all star break?
