Anyone else notice Hall break his stick over his knee after the goal?

This team has the same problems that the big club has had for years. Garbage defense combined with bad veteran depth players. You would think this organization would eventually learn... They can't even pull it off at the AHL level. That is a scary thought.

That was well.... awful.
I can't remember how many games they lost after being tied or ahead going into the 3rd, it has to be close to 10. Ugh. :shakehead
Thank god that only one defenseman will be on the Oilers when the NHL returns because the group as a whole is god awful.
Maybe it wasn't Renney's fault? :dunno:

you know, I fully expected the Barons to dominate this year... Pretty upset at the level of play despite the big scorers on this team.

They don't need to learn how to score, they need to learn how to win.

Edit: woo! 75 posts!

Entertaining game. But anybody not named Hall, Schultz, or Harti should take a long look in the mirror.

Just not playing with the same tempo. Hall and Schultz right now are driving all the offence.

But heres one thing thats wrong. On the late PP Hall skates into zone into traffic and makes the dish pass just like he should as he's approaching the scrum. The trouble is the one player that was supporting on the play didn't find an open ice spot. Hall was covered by 2-3 Rivermen and somehow the outlet guy manages to be in a covered position.

We're really not understanding finding open ice, or approaching the line in sync. That PP was everything thats wrong with how the Barons are playing Individuals instead of team.

Quiet game by Eberle. Hall, Schultz playing like they should. Hartski showing a reason why he should stick up with the bigs.

Everyone else was sub-acceptable.

During the final PP for the Barons, THREE Barons ended up in the corner, trying to retrieve the puck. That just can't happen, especially at the AHL-level.

Good system play and adherence to that would be making everybody look a whole lot better.

AHL is more of a defensive league from what I'm seeing. Teams playing us are trying to play some semblance of a team system. We're being on the wrong end of that not because of personnel as much as because of stubborn refusal to buy into sound team play.
We gave up two 3 on 1's in 1minute of play. That kind of thing is playing with fire.

Thats not the result of bad D its the result of every forward being downlow and not pikcing up for the pinching D. Of course Sam Gagner isn't here because he'd read that everytime.

Nobody bothers to make the effort to jump back. They all like that Schultz pinches on every other play but help the guy out a bit..cover.

For all of the flack he gets, Paajarvi is probably the best forward at covering for a pinching D that we have in our system IMO.

...wow. Ok keep watching these garbage AHLers play in front of 1500 people then.

these garbage AHLers are the future of our NHL club..

Paajarvi, Hartikainen, Lander, Pitlick, Hamilton, the 3 kids .. is this not what we are hoping our nhl club to be in 3 yrs?

For years ive been saying KLowe is the worst manager in the league; and his puppet Tambo is just an idiot. When will people figure it out.

If you can transport them 3 years into the future then fine, until then I want to watch real NHLers.

Yeah, I've seen him do it. He's certainly got the wheels to jump back and his tendency is to peel back early. Its a rare breed on this club.

Man what an awful night from Eberle. How on Earth can a player this gifted look so bad. Just not feeling it tonight somehow. Not only was he not making plays he's consistently the deepest guy in and not even thinking all round play. Cheating for offence on every play and not creating anything.

Anyway its time for target practice. Way too many shots going wide tonight. Have to say as entertaining as it was there were too many cute plays. You see the other clubs just executing some simple high probability stuff. Peoria scored on a simple wrap. The type of play this talented Barons club doesn't even try because its well, not pretty enough.

We need more than Schultz and Hall going. Few others are keeping up.

Hamilton is so far away from being an NHL player at this point that IMO he is out of sight and out of mind. Pitlick needs to pick it up as well. Lander has been better of late as has Paajarvi. That said on D we have Schultz, a high even D in Marincin who can both help and hurt you in the same game shift to shift, and then we have Teubert who needs to get better in his puck decisions and add some speed to his game. Deck a kid who started the year in the ECHL is arguably one of our top 4 D right now. Our D is dreadful.

That's part of the flack though. He's like the anti-Russian, flying the offensive zone as opposed to the defensive zone too early.
