Cole Cassels
Jake Virtanen
Brendan Gaunce,
Shinkaruk
McCann
Zhukenov

Canucks top6 is going to be difficult to play against.
McCann is a two way beast, Gaunce is excellent defensive forward. Cassels is annoying, gritty and dirty. Virtanen can and will lay you out

and all have offensive upside.

should be fun.

As usual, the Oilers take forever to release any news of any kind, and it's hard to say right now where the line will be drawn with the AHL guys... But.

Chase-McDavid-Slepyshev
Platzer/Moroz-Draisaitl-Bukarts

Will be precisely zero fun to play against.

I didn't notice right away but Braden Christoffer had 147 PIM's last year.

Between him, Chase, and Bukarts, the Oilers are definitely trying to fill a pest role.

As usual Edmonton will hide the #1 overall pick from playing against the Flames. One of our filthy goons might throw a bodycheck after all.

You're inviting a guy (Proulx) that had four points last year. FOUR. Come on, he's clearly there for one reason only

McDavid will likely play one of the first two games that are back to backs and the final game.

I get the feeling I'm going to hate Virtanen in this tournament.

Was actually thinking the same thing, Virtanen is flying under the radar right now, but he is the kind of player rival teams will absolutely hate. His hits border on reckless.

Rodrigo Abols is an interesting name on the Canucks' roster. Big kid that played in the KHL last year. They'll be just showcasing him though, couldn't sign him if they wanted to. Similar to the Oilers with the Russian kid last year who's name escapes me right now.

Vladimir Tkachev is the guy you're thinking of.

At least you know the Canucks can't sign their guy...

Will be interesting to see how Winnipeg's depth holds up.

It's been touted all summer to the point they should dominate this tournament.
Here's the first chance to see the proof in the pudding.

First Winnipeg fan to say "Some of our players are in college or pro" wins a prize.
Shouldn't have to explain what the prize is for.

Benning and Wiesbrod are funning the show so who knows, they may have found out after the fact or still don't know. :help:

Yeah to play hockey. :naughty:

Right? :sarcasm:

Flames got a gritty bunch on Right Wing with Poirier, Smith, Hathaway and Carroll. Some skill with Bennett and Magniapane. And arguable best goalie duo in Gillies and McDonald

Hmph. The NHL will have guys just as nasty but they can play, in our division against the likes of Lucic, Kesler, Doan. Players who will be taking runs, whacking at him with their stick when the refs not looking and other such liberties.

Oh sure, McDavid will definitely be targeted, but the thing is, that's fine. The kid can handle himself and we will happily take all the powerplays. :naughty:

Cant wait for Edmonton vs Winnipeg, the two top teams squaring off

McDavid, Nurse, LD vs Ehlers, Morrissey, Hellybuck and the best depth for prospects

Of the Oilers to suprise, Slepyshev should do very good at this tournment. Hes older and has a ton of expierence against men in the KHL.

Laleggia should be there because he hasnt been able to participate before. hes older and tore NCAA up. He could rival Nurse for best D there. Not best D prospect (hes older), but a ton of expeirence

If Yakimov goes again, watch out. He did very well in this tourny last year, and is even bigger and better

Those 3 plus the big 3 should be fireworks. So much skill, size and speed

Winnipeg has insane depth though. Cant wait to see them

Dont think the Oilers are bringing any face punchers. They got too many legit prospects they need to give ice time too. Plus they got legit prospects who can throw down too

I'm sure it's happened to him all his life, nothing new now. But at least those games will matter.

It's a fun tournament before camp with the first real games for these guys in months. I think anyone trying to tout it as the be all and end all of prospect talent should win your prize.

But to your last comment, I do wish Connor/Roslovic/Foley could be there. Not to try to win some sort of nonexistent prize, but because I'd just love to see more of them as a fan. Same goes for a guy like Niku, who the team picked in the 7th round this year. I'd just like to see more of him playing.

If I remember correctly, the Canucks had a few injuries to guys before last years tournament (Virtanen?). That was disappointing, and I'm guessing to Canucks fans mostly, but to all of us who just want to watch these guys play.

Should be a very good tournament. All four teams look to have solid rosters, some good offensive players and appear to be very well matched.
