Regardless as to the amount of money the Jets end of giving Laine.... they have to put a clause in his contract that says... " No beards!!! "

Seriously, he gets A+ for effort but F- ( or whatever the lowest grade is ) for execution. You want a beard, fine, then at least trim it a bit so it doesn't look like some woodland creature jumped on your face and got stuck there.
Just wait.. Laine beasting out there with that "thing" and his goals and in couple of years the league is filled with Laine look a like swampmonsters:laugh:

An agents job is to keep their client happy. If Laine says get me as much money as possible then that could be true, but it's just as likely he asks for a fair deal for long term like Scheifele did.
Agents work for them selves also, as they are getting paid a provision from the deal they make, aren't they:huh: Agents are not known to be friends of team friendly deals..

I mean, Scheifele, Ehlers, Little, Perrault all signed team friendly long term deals in the past couple years.

Little did not sign a team friendly contract, Scheifele did. Contract for Little was more on the expensive side.

If Laine gets a comparable contract to Little, it will be close to 10M. I hope that he will sign more team friendly contract.

Contract for Little was right down the middle of his comparables, IMO:

He's second in number of points amongst those players, and 5th in cap hit %'age at the time of the signing. Not "cheap", but not expensive for a player of his utility.

I think we'll see Laine sign for somewhere around 8x$8M, personally.

I genuinely prefer him looking like an old guard U-Boot Kapitänleutnant after 12th wolfpack sortie over that previous.. aww... so neat boy babyface.

And swampmonsters can be very cool too, particularly if they emerge in hordes.

Good compromise would be then make some maintenance trimmings here and there, now and then.

I agree on Little. It's only the risk of regression that might make this deal expensive. If all goes well, it's an OK deal for sure as Little is an excellent player when playing his best game as seen on the last season.

Yeah, okay. Little could've gotten at least 6 mil as UFA, for sure.

Some pretty bad contracts you listed there, though..

That's UFA market for you, it's build on bad contracts. That's why you need to make sure you have a healthy prospect pool.

2016,
Ladd 5.5Mx7y winger,
Okposo 6Mx 7y winger,
Lucic 6Mx7y winger,
Backes 6Mx5y winger(mostly),
Eriksson 6mx6y winger.

2018,
Little 5.29Mx6y C.

With cap increase in 2 years+ Little playing the most valuable position of these 6.5Mx6y from the market would have been about right.

Looking solid lately. I think that line is the right spot for him for now. If/when Lowry gets back, that line would be even better.

I have been wondering about this...if a Ehlers Lowry Laine line could work. The whole point of having the player Adam Lowry is he is a shutdown center. Playing the two worst defensive wingers with him? I dunno. If the plan is to keep Hendricks in the lineup every game than I guess it will have to be done. Hendricks skating is so crazy. It is almost like he has his power steering option off at all times.

Laine had a good game tonight. Excellent with his compete and battle level.

I know we hate doing this here but....

Matthews 135 games 68g 51a 119pts
.88 pts/gm

Laine 134 games 65g 48a 113pts
.84 pts/gm

We can all agree Laine hasn't played to his potential.... That's exciting for me.

Minutes though?

Matthews - 17.54 mpg

Laine - 17.21 mpg

Obviously that’s not a huge difference but Matthews has more MPG and more GP as well. Also Toronto has been building around Matthews and thus far the Jets have been building around Scheifele and Wheeler(as they both are currently the best players here and deserve to be the center point at this time), you always here “will ____ get to play on the top line with Matthews” in Toronto and here in Winnipeg it’s “Give Laine more minutes” or “Laine should at some point play on the first line).

Don’t want to talk in bad taste upon either of these Elite talents as I think they’re as close as it gets(in they’re own ways), but the largest divide/factor in the two comes in the media outlet and a huge fan base...

If you read any news in Finland it's practically impossible avoid that sort of media outlet, and largest divide between the two in Finland is that here one has a huge fan base. I'm not following Toronto medias closely, but I think there is something similar going on in the Mecca than seems to be here at northern hockey periferia.

In their own ways.
