Only two goals in 13 Away games. Is he struggling when he doesn't get the favourable match ups? Or is it just statistical variance of small sample sizes?

Gaudreau is the last elite offensive player that has struggled for a full season in away games. Will it happen to Laine?

Probably too early to say.

Eight of those eleven home game goals came in three games (Dal x2, Tor x1) so you could say those games are skewing his totals too. Plus, the Jets have been bad on the road as a team which hurts everyone.

In short, who knows.

Don't worry he's a beast! I still think he's the best rookie out there considering his age.

He's a young player. Just means he is more comfortable at home right now. It's "safer".

Leaf team os young and they dominate at home so I think it's sort of the same thing

He had a hattrick against Dallas when he went against Seguin line. Against LA he went against Doughty, went against Keith vs Chicago at home and so on.

When you play with Scheifele you aren't going to be sheltered, he has just scored there pretty nicely.

And Laine has scored almost 30% of their goals on home ice. Pretty special. So almost every third goal.

Now it is almost every third goal at home. 13 goals of 41 team goals. About every fifteenth goal is by Laine in Away games.

Not to mention Laine's 7 PP goals is half of Winnipeg's PP total goals so far.

He's the trigger man on that powerplay and probably one of the better ones already in his first year.

Toronto picked the wrong guy.

No offense but just no, don't.

Yup, just like Johnny Hockey last year... :dooney: "There is no place like home." :dooney: "There is no place like home." :dooney: "There is no place like home." :dooney:

He's a sniper... I'm sure he will start to snipe them on the road soon enough. He got 2 beauties tonight against he Oilers! :amazed: Most of his goals are on the PP where he has more time. Once he gets more accustomed to the speed he should be able to score more even strength goals... scary!

It's definitely a matchup thing at this point. We didn't have Little for any of those away games. It's not hard to key in on Laine when we can't shelter him a little bit. Having Little gives us another line that can be a threat. We'll see how it goes when we hit the road again. Team will have to choose between shutting down Scheif, Ehlers and Laine or Little, Wheeler and whomever their linemate is. One of them will have a chance to feast what they do with it is up to them.

The Jets have had a ton of injuries, so it's easier for teams to shut down the top offensive lines when they can control more of the match-ups.

Laine's the real deal and we are more than happy to have him in Winnipeg.

Toronto picked the wrong guy.

No they didn't, the teams got exactly the players they needed. Should have 2 happy teams.

He has 7 powerplay goals.

Toronto picked the right guy, and left Winnipeg with a superstar in the making. I'd have taken Laine 1st overall for the Sharks, but given Toronto's state, Matthews was (and still is) the right choice.
