Per twitter, Howard supposedly starting for Detroit, has a 77% save percentage over the last four games. The question: does Howard get a shut out against us, or do we see the epic battle of goalies with an eventual 6:7 score at the end?

Kidding but not really...

You had me going until that last line.

Per Goldie, Barkov back tonight.
Hopefully they kept Barkov out just for precautionary reasons (he did skate 2 days ago, surely he wouldn't have done that if it was serious), then again we'll probably never fully know what happened with how stingy the team is regarding injury information.

So if Reimer plays tonight, we get Sateri on back to back against CHI? :crossfing

We are 6-2-2 in our last 10 games against DET. If Barkov is back and actually healthy, we are the better team and I expect the 2pts. Be nice if Reimer had a strong performance tonight to give the guys some confidence to play some run and gun. :D

Based on Boughner's comments when Säteri was called up, the coaching staff has zero faith in him. BB basically threw him under the bus straight away.

Would not surprised me at all if Reimer played both games.

Can you link me this article/video?
Why not give him a chance tonight against a lesser team and have Reimer play just one game? We're going to burn out Reimer too. Maybe that's the plan to secure one more top 5 pick?

If Tallon doesn't make a trade before Christmas, they are content with going in that direction.

It was at practice the day after Lu got injured, BB said something along "we need to get help for Reimer with Lu out". I know Säteri hasn't exactly shined in Springfield, but give the guy at least a chance to prove himself first.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see them give Säteri a chance, but the odds seem to be against him.

So he didn't have a concussion after all? Maybe something like whiplash? Doubtful he'd play this soon even with a minor concussion.

Hard to believe that shot would give him a concussion. Looked similar to the hit Hubs took on the shoulder a few weeks back. Even though Hubs played he was not effective until the last few games. :)

I imagine Bobby Boo realized how much Barkov needed a rest and they just gave him a game off to be safe. He and Tro will be back to playing 23 minutes each game. :)

Can't wait to lose 7-5 and read complaints about how it's Bjugstad's fault.

I don't think anyone ever really said anything was his fault, I know I certainly didn't. I just think the issue is he's being paid $4 mil and is playing with our best players but isn't producing like you'd expect him to. There really isn't any clear chemistry between him and anyone on this team...I think the difference between the top line with him vs. the top line with Dadonov is pretty clear.

If Dadonov had 13 points in 29 games, you'd probably be saying the same things that some of us are saying about Bjugstad.

The point is, we have a scoring issue, and he's part of that, as is Vrbata and many of our other forwards.

Nobody blames Bjugstad for the loss but keep spinning it. He's open to criticism though for his play that doesn't improve when he's on the top line or with any other new linemate. People kept making excuses for his play because he wasn't playing top 6 or should be on the top line. He is what he is, a 35-40 point player at his peak, who is mediocre at best defensively and completely replaceable.

We only had 4 guys last year with 40+ points so for a team that just gutted some offense in Marchessault and Smith, saying Bjugstad is completely replaceable is wrong in my opinion. If we still had Marchessault and Smith then I'd agree, but for now, Bjugstad is on pace for 35-40pts, which is around value for his $4.1 million cap hit, possibly overpaid by like $300,000. Big deal.

No we have a defense issue. I dont like Bjugstad at all but you are focusing on the wrong area lol

He's replaceable in the sense there are a lot of players that can bring what he can bring versus say a Barkov, Tro, or Huberdeau who are rare commodities.

This team isn’t going anywhere with the forward group we have past Barkov, Huberdeau, Trocheck and Dadonov.

The defense can be fixed with experience and adding a vet defensive defenseman.

Well in that sense, that's like 85% of the league then no?
He will become expendable next year when Borgstrom, Hepo and Tippett start competing for top 6 roles. Otherwise we need him in the lineup and I honestly think he could hit 50pts if given top 6 minutes all year long. He's better than last year and his fore/back-checking has been noticeable.

Maybe I was being too specific listing them.

Rather, he's a non-factor, imo. He doesn't hit, he isn't defensively reliable, he isn't clutch, isn't a shootout specialist, can't kill penalties, isn't a playmaker, doesn't make anyone around him better, doesn't shut down the opposing teams, isn't dominating physically. What does he do well?

He's just one of those guys who will have a nice career and collect money being a guy who can score here and there and nothing else. We need people who bring value in different areas be it a PK specialist, a center who hits people and is defensively responsible, etc.

With his skating ability and size he should be a menace to play against but he's the softest player per inch and pound in the league.
