Panarin just had an awful season by his standards and Gaudreau just had his peak season. Not entirely fair. Gaudreau played with another 100 point player in Tkachuk too. Panarin at his peak was putting up 100+ with Strome and Blackwell/Fast

96 points in 75 games which is on pace for way over 100 pts is an awful season for Panarin ? Rangers fans truly got too damn demanding

Gaudreau 208 games, 222 points + 56. Pace of 88 points over 82 games

Gaudreau just had the better seasons, but he's been widely inconsistent year to year. Panarin just had 3 straight rock solid seasons.

Panarin is better. Maybe if Gaudreau can repeat 2 years in a row you say him, but until proven otherwise, this is Panarin

Panarin led the league in even strength points during his Hart nominee season with a 5 point gap on 2nd place. This is when he was playing with Ryan Strome and Jesper Fast

There's obviously been a lot of criticism for Gaudreau's playoff performances, but at worst he's closer to invisible. There have been way too many playoff games where Panarin has been the best player on the ice. For the other team.

Gaudreau was a lot better last season and should’ve been a hart finalist imo but I think Panarin is the better overall player and just as dynamic. I think Panarin has another level to his game that we didn’t see last season which is scary considering he finished with 90+ points.

I don't love the poll either. At their peak 3 years ago Panarin was top 3 in the NHL. I don't think Johnny ever gets there. Don't even think he will ever be top 10. Today these two are a lot closer.

He wasn’t his normal self this year, but that has historically not been true whatsoever. Over the last five seasons, Panarin is 4th in the league in 5v5 points with 246. Gaudreau is 7th with 238, but in 24 more games. Over that same time frame, Panarin is 5th in 5v5 P/60 with 2.74. Gaudreau is 9th at 2.62 (among those with 4000 minutes). Panarin also has a 61% GF%, which is 5th in the league over that time frame (again with 4000 minutes). Gaudreau’s 58.5% GF% is at 16th. Both have been elite 5v5 players for their careers.

Yeah but Panarin's 30 which means he's on a steep decline, so that season which has happened once in his career is normal now.

Gaudreau is in the prime of his life at a year and a half younger.
