Would’ve though the opposite given he played yesterday and they’ve send the 2 kids back to the AHL

Guys probably worth a 1st but I dont see teams willing to give up their 1st in such a deep draft.

2nd and Puljujarvi for Pageau?

James Duthie probably is running around his house screaming of joy right now.

I will be very interested in the return here.

Not surprised. Sens are a small budget team and essentially a farm system for other franchises.

Ottawa has a number of young centres. Losing Pageau might not be the worst thing, although I’d like to keep him if the price is right.

Its amazing the talent that organization has iced the last 10 years and pretty much ships em all out

Yup. If guys are do a contract they get moved. Its Melnyks mo

Zibanejad (RFA in one year)
Turris (when he was good)
Duchene
Karlsson
Dzingle
Stone

All were pending UFA's needing a new contract and moved.

"Sorry, JP. We just can't find the space."

8 players under contract next year, 3 players under contract for 2021/22.

It's not about cap space now, it's about spots.

Going into next season the Sens have:

Tierney
Anisimov
White
Brown
Norris
+ potentially a guy like Byfield/Stutzle/Rossi/Lundell

If the Sens actually had the money/desire to hang onto their talent.. You guys would be a top team for years and years.

if they wanted money they should have made the playoffs. Other than zib they all played crap hockey for points and getting paid during the contract year with zero interest in winning

Sens should really hang on to him even if it’s an overpay just to shelter the young players
You already have enough futures

You are correct. He had one season remaining on his contract.

However I think my point still stands somewhat as the Sens knew he needed a new contract in a year and moved him for a cost controlled player in Brassard

Melnyk doesn’t like to give raises.
