Except it would be ok if he was offsides right? Or no still u want to count it as a good goal?

Let me repeat this part since apparently you skimmed through it (I even bolded, italicized, and underlined it) :

Sorry...but offsides reviews should only be challenge-able by the opposing Head Coaches, NOT AUTOMATICALLY DONE BY FRIGGIN' TORONTO!!

If Trotz had the ability to challenge, then he would've but if he didn't challenge, then he didn't. And that would be the end of that.

Instead, Toronto just waltzes in there and DECIDES to review?

This should be decided by those involved in the game, not by some group of suits in a building up in Toronto.

I’d personally be fine with it even if it was a sliver offside. Linesman saw it as onside so it’s onside. Pretty cut and dry imho. I mean it’s always been this way. Can’t ask a human to make these down to the millimeter decisions and then scrutinize the hell out of them.

I think picking the Caps to lose this one was a smart pick. They aren’t as good this year.

Look at all the anchors they have dressed out there. They downgraded from the players they lost last year, outside of Alzner.

I had the BJs in 6, but I didn’t think it would be any shorter than that. It looks like it could be.

Of course, Game 3 means a lot, just like our series... but dropping two on the road is a lot easier to come back from than dropping the first two at home. Yikes.

Thank you! :thumbu: CBJ in 5.

The rest, especially the Atlantic, not nearly as smart in some cases.

You do realize that everything in overtime and under a min left is automatically reviewed in Toronto. Since there’s a good chance teams wont have their timeout handy to challenge?

Who cares though if trotz or the nhl called for a review. If the play was offsides would u want the goal to still stand?

What is all the hate with these offside calls? In the nfl does anyone say o well he just had half a toe out of bounds it should still count. It was a bang bang play the refs are human. But no his foots out of bounds so it wipes the play off the board

The Caps probably just want to get the annual failure over with right away rather than waiting for the Pens to knock them out again.

The D.O.G. penalty needs to be changed so pucks knocked out from mid-air are not penalized.

Those are not instances when the defender is intentionally throwing the puck out of play to end offensive chances.

I have to ask what is with this defense of the offsides calls?

We got hosed pretty good during the regular season on offsides calls that took points away from the Devils.

Many here aren't too enamored(to be kind) with offsides reviews and all that.

You are probably the only one who doesn't really mind Toronto determining a Playoff game.

And I don't like it that they can do it, Period. Whether it's in regulation or OT.

And Football is Football. I could care less what THEY do.

I only care what is happening in Hockey.

Last year was the Caps last chance with their current core. They'll likely lose Carlson this summer and their already suspect defense will only get worse.

This Vegas and LA series might by my favorite.

Neither team is beating themselves, really. Two well-coached teams executing. Two goalies doing their best. Our series is brain-dead hockey compared to LA-VGK.

Agreed 100000%.

The NHL offsides review may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen in all of sports. Taking goals (and sometimes wins) off the board because they spend 5 minutes scrutinizin video at 1/32 speed and 8x zoom to determine that someone's toe was a hair's length over the blueline before the puck. The spirit of the offsides rule is to prevent cherry picking and teams getting too easy of an advantage on offense. I think it's safe to say that someone's skate beating the puck into the zone by 1/16 of an inch provides zero distinguishable advantage to the scoring team.

The NHL loves talking about "the spirit" of the CBA when it comes to randomly punishing a team for cap circumvention, but they take a huge steaming pile of crap on the spirit of the game reviewing offsides in this manner. I'd say it's really disgraceful, but may that's just my opinion.

No. **** them and the NHL for forcing Cups to their Golden boy.
Dude with all due respect this comes across as petty. There's no league wide agreed upon conspiracy to gift the Penguins the cup. Hell they only had one in Sid's first 8 years before they won these last two. There's plenty to dislike about that team without going full blown tin foil hat. You make it sound like they are just some middling team that mysteriously wins, as opposed to a team that has two of the greatest centers to ever play, and a boat load of other elite / top 6 forwards.
