I'm a big proponent of this kind of contract for younger players. Lock them into their prime and they should theoretically only grow into the contract, hopefully exceeding it's value by the time he's in his mind/late twenties.

People scream overpayment for just about every high end RFA that signs because they're not "proven" enough and the player almost always proves this wrong. I remember when Jack Hughes was a big overpayment. Well...

Get your young core talent locked up as soon as you can especially in what will be a fast rising cap world. This contract will be a bargain before long. Ottawa doing things right.
