Figures... the players said, "We love the purple, let's bring that back," so the team decided to go with... more teal with the red.

I do get not listening to the players. I don't think teams should re-design their jerseys based on the current players wishes, because ultimately they have to wear them anyway, and your goal is to get the fans to buy them. Which does lead into the next point, I think a lot of fans would prefer the purple and teal at this point, so there would have been justification for it.

I do like the red and teal together, it's incredibly unique, and I do think it looks good, so I'm not too torn up about it myself. But yeah, lots of people would have preferred purple.

And for whatever it's worth, I think the black one catapulted from my least favorite of their jerseys to my #1. It really pops now.

Re: Suns

I don't watch many games but always watch the score and read the game summary. Such a disappointing season.

They depleted the organization of assets well into the future (2030ish?) building this roster and it sucks. Doesn't seem like the Suns have many options to improve over the next 5-10 years because they gave away all their future assets to build this roster. A "big 3" with no supporting cast is a recipe for failure and I feel like they should've known this.

Makes me wonder who deserves the blame. Jones? Ishbia? Both? I rememeber reading that Ishbia pushed hard in the pursuit for Durant. Maybe he's too involved in the GM duties?

The Kevin Durant-Phoenix Suns era could be over before it ever really began

Diamondbacks could have an interesting infield situation sooner than later. Lawlar is looking good this spring, good enough to be an MLB player. Perdomo is already the starting SS, Ketel is at 2B and Suarez was brought in to be 3B. They still have Jace Peterson (who, imo, shouldn't factor in at all, less than impressed with his body of work here) and Emmanuel Rivera (who has recently started playing SS again as well) as backup 4,5,6 utility players. They want Lawlar playing every day, so he probably starts in Reno, but he could make things real interesting if there's an injury early on.

Likewise, in the OF, I really wonder how much time McCarthy has left here. Your starting three are Carroll-Thomas-Gurriel, but then you have both lefty and righty platoon options in Pederson and Grichuk respectively, and Pavin Smith is still an OF/DH option as well.

Playoff team?

Baseball's a weird sport, hard to say.

Looking at the roster on paper it should be a playoff team. Largely the same team as last year with upgrades (in theory) in starting pitching, 3B and depth.
The bullpen should look closer to the end of last year than the beginning of last year (where it was a mess and directly cost them wins).

But injuries could derail that as we almost saw last year (the W-L with Moreno vs without was stark), players could slump (Carroll, Moreno sophomore slumps), other guys could regress a little, some guys (Thomas, Perdomo) could not take the step forward you want to see.

I would bet on it being a playoff team, but wouldn't be surprised if they missed too. Lots of variables at play, too many unknowns to consider them a perennial playoff team yet, but they're on their way.

Completely forgot to mention in this post, Blaze Alexander is making a strong case for the opening day roster as well. He's another guy who could play 2B, 3B or SS, and could be that backup/utility guy for this season while Lawlar sees a lot of reps in Reno.

Thanks for the updates. I haven't been paying close enough attention, just as I wasn't when they cut Nick Ahmed late last season. Perhaps he'll get a roster spot with the Giants, but I doubt he's a starter.

Diamondbacks veteran was 'blindsided' getting cut before Arizona's World Series run

I'm not super familiar with the Giants lineup but I'm pretty sure they're projected to start a rookie shortstop so he definitely has a shot to make the team in a backup role to mentor him and fill in if the rookie stumbles.

Giants did a pretty decent job this winter with Lee, Soler and Chapman. The NL West could be a bloodbath this year.

I don't know if anyone is watching this spring training game right now, but Perdomo is mic'd up, you can tell he's a really fun guy and a great locker room presence. Not sure what's going to happen with him long term with Lawlar presumably being the SS of the future, but Perdomo is a gem of a human.

Steve Berthiaume just asked Perdomo to say hi to Steve's wife from the dugout, and he did. Then Perdomo asked Steve and BB if they wanna say hi to his son, and they said yes. They asked him what his son's name was, he said "Merrill Kelly". Only in spring training

Do people bring something to sit on when attending Cubs spring training games at Sloan Park and get berm tickets?

I've definitely seen people sitting on blankets or towels, if that's what you're asking about. As far as chairs go, I don't think so, but I don't know if that's because they're not allowed or just because people don't do it.

The Dbacks just batted around twice in one inning, scoring 14 runs in the process
Opening Day was great to be at last night. LilDoaner’s debut earlier, it’s been a hell of a week to be at live home games. Stupid Suns didn’t get the message to be in town.

Listening to the D'Backs game right now, and the Arizona Sports announcer is going on and on about the A's and how they're going to be playing in a Triple-A stadium in Sacramento until 2028 and how bad of a look that is, and neither he nor Tom Candiotti mentioned a word about what's going on with the Coyotes. It was, "Can you imagine if an NFL team went and played in a division II facility?" They talked about what a horrible look that's going to be for the MLB for the next four years.

Sigh. Sports are stupid.
