Watson's scouting report was very similar to Bryan Cameron's: smallish, average skater, good hands around the net. At least this was only a seventh round pick.

When you consider that he already played out his overage year last year in junior when most players are making the pro debuts, it's not looking so pretty for Watson. He has 1.5 years left in his ELC but it is looking like a real long shot that he will ever get a 2nd contract.

His overage year was due to him being hurt in training camp last season and they didn't want him to start off the year so late with the AHL team. But he always was a long shot to make any kind if impact due to his size. The Kings took a shot on him late because he could score and they saw what Johnny hockey could do with his small stature and hoped Watson could be like that.

And what stuck out like a sore thumb was his very average skating in the AHL games early this year. He also basically shot the puck nearly every time it touched his stick in areas that really where just turning the puck back over, along with some risky passes coming out of the D zone. He has 7 points in 8 games in the ECHL (only 1 goal). He would be a valuable shootout specialist in the AHL, but I have my doubts he comes back, especially this season unless roster staffing becomes an issue.

Moulson has become this year's Purcell for the Reign. He has an incredible 7 assists in 3 games. Really helping the offense move along due to the Reign's lack of offense depth at forward.

The Reign sure played a poor game against the Roadrunners tonight. Probably the worst game they have played in the AHL at home since they came to ONT. 6-1 final. Complete domination from start to finish by the visitors. Reign looked tired from last nights win over Stockton. Too bad, they had a great crowd for the Teddy Bear Toys for Tots drive.

JORDAN SUBBAN IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. Ontario has returned home after a 3-2-0 road trip through Tucson and the two Texas teams but will still be without Jordan Subban, acquired in the Nic Dowd trade, for the immediate future. (He has not yet played for the Reign.) Via correspondence with the team, Subban is out with an upper-body injury, which had been sustained while he was playing for the Utica Comets. The team was aware of the injury when it traded for him, and it was likely related to one particular incident.
There’s no firm timetable on his return, but a team source indicated that it should be roughly two more weeks before he gets going again. Nothing I’ve heard has given the indication that it’s anything particularly serious.

Subban missed his last two games with Utica before being traded because he was injured Dec. 1 against Bridgeport. Injury happened on what the AHL ruled was a slew-foot incident.

Mike Amadio is good at hockey. Top competitor for a roster spot next season sure. 4 goals 7 assists last 6 games. Moulson 10 assists in 6 games and several goal posts.

I'm also liking Austin Wagner's game so far. He's got a little chippiness to his game, he finishes his checks while staying in position and the goal he scored didn't hurt either.....

He is more feisty than expected. Still working on how to use his speed in the pro game. Nice to see the goal, although if he would have missed it would not be good, he had a huge gaping net to shot at. Buried it!

Is Lintuniemi improving or is he still pretty rough? Is Imama showing anything that would make us understand why he was signed?
Right now, I don't see Lintuneimi on the verge of breaking through. He did get bumped to the #1 D pairing due to Gravel's promotion, but only due to lack of options. His game is pretty inconsistent. He'll do some things well, and the next minute you're scratching your head a bit. I don't see him getting any NHL games this year. He might be a career AHLer, but he has shown some improvement since he broke in, that is for sure. I don't really get much sense about how staff feels about his progress, and we have even less info now since Joey Z moved to cover the Rockford AHL club and do their play by play.

Imama was signed to deal with the toughness of the AHL and to fill the tough guy role gap among the younger prospects. In many ways the AHL is a more physically intimidating league now than the NHL since fighting and rough stuff is much more frequent here. He has worked his way down in camp from the top 2 lines LW down to a 4th line role player who is an occasional healthy scratch. I imagine he will play for sure the next two days against the Gulls, who are by far and away the biggest goon squad in the AHL. He has no points and is a minus player. Right now he chases the play. He is in serious need of learning to play with structure, and improving his hockey IQ (it's poor, lacks anticipation, positioning to receive the pass in stride, he'll wait or slow down sometimes instead of getting open for pass on the move). Imama is an excellent skater with good speed, and he has a hard shot. Not a good passer and shaky receiving passes, controlling the puck, turns over the puck a lot. I think his last season in the Q (41 goals), he basically must have overpowered smaller, weaker players (defenders) to score. Does not work at this level. He is very raw. Let's see how he looks in a couple of years, but he is a project for sure.

The Reign were playing the perfect road game last night in San Diego, leading 3-1 early in the 3rd and then the wheels fell off, losing 4-3 in OT. Reign stopped skating and kept marching to the penalty box. Subban played his first game, I think he'll be a nice addition. Skates well, puck mover, made some nice moves to get his shot off, even cleared out the crease once. A couple of sloppy passes late as turnovers. I'll see him play live today, the Reign play the second half of the double header at 3 PM in ONT. Falkovsky did not dress. Hensick also, maybe a rest, minor injury, don't know but he has not been himself this year. Amadio remains read hot. 4 goals and 9 assists in 7 games. Surprisingly, Imama didn't play, and the game was chippy but relatively calm for a Gulls-Reign game.

Highlights from Reigns game last Friday.

Awesome wrister van Luff and another goal he set up himself.

6’3, great wristshot together with deceptive speed.

Not that I care, but is Zatkoff injured? I'm not seeing that he's played any games yet this season......

He has not played any games but when Campbell was with Kings for one game Zatkoff did backup Petersen. He is with Reign but not going to play. I believe he does not travel with team.

I am loving Subban's game. He seems to be able to gain the zone on the power play on a consistent basis. He's got a hard shot from the point that is mostly on net and he seems to be able to get it through more times than not. He seems to keep the puck in front of him and is an excellent skater. He is winning his battles along the boards and his passing has been mostly well placed to exit the zone. He is playing a really strong game......

Ladue with a snipe from the blueline to open the scoring, and a great pass to setup the 4th goal.

Brodzinski also got in on the scoring, as did Amadio, who had a multi-point game.
