Exactly...we need to go for it in 2024. Cap hit of 775k for this year saves some cap more moves for upcoming season. He would probably need a monster season anyways to max out the bonuses.

Best case he plays great and our cap hurts next year. Worst case he plays like a shit 4th liner and our cap is hurt next year.

Based on his qualifications, he was entitled to bonuses, why are they referring to next year bonus when it's only a one yr deal?

If I remember right, if he reaches his bonuses and that puts us over the cap, everything which exceeds the cap this year is moved against next year's cap.

Obviously like this years cap hit, but that $3.25 million in bonuses is pretty scary though. If they bridge Bouch for 1 year and Brown gets his bonuses, we're going to be capped out next summer. We've pretty much put all of our eggs in this years basket. Ken needs to be AGGRESSIVE at the deadline.

Yeah. Impossible to comment too much without knowing. But if we're cap strapped how can we structure these bonuses in anyway and if so doesn't this mean an instance where Oilers will intentionally stymie the player hitting the bonuses because they can't have him hitting those bonuses within their cap structure. I'm no capologist, how does this all work?

All depends on bonus structure. I’m sure there is some low lying fruit, but should be some harder ones too
