That value is fine straight up for Chychrun but Bjugstad at 50% should net a pretty decent return.
Bjugstad was sitting in the playoffs last year. What does that tell you about his play. not good for playoff hockey.

If the oilers are soft they should be going after Gavrikov, not Chychrun.

The dude won defensive MVP at the WJC without scoring a single point.
Big difference WJC and NHL

Obviously, but the point is he's arguably the most defensive minded defender available this deadline.

WTF?

Both SJ and Arizona seem to be asking insane prices that are keeping all the other teams away. Should the Oilers be the one team, with no sense, to pay those prices?

Making a deal for the sake of making a deal is nuts. Especially when the Oilers should be focusing more on acquiring actual defence and not more offence.
Yeah they should

I think they should try. That would be a big move to improve the defencemen. They then need to go all in and get a goalie. Just steamroll the flat West.
They should aim for Korpisalo. His been stellar in columbus, is an UFA and cap is 1.3M

Someone loses the musical chairs game every deadline, and it will probably be Chychrun and Gavrikov this year. At least with Chychrun Arizona can try again at the draft. But its pretty clear that the buyers had to facilitate the sellers and the value gotten back has been lower and lower closer to the deadline.

Gavrikov may well get the Luke Schenn return at this point. Oilers were the best fit for him but with Nurse and Ekholm on the left he's more of a luxury. I guess if they want to run Ekholm on the right he'd still be a top 4 fit.
