OR...if AZ is willing to retain 50% on Chychrun ($2.3M cap hit) + Bjugstad (no retention), then EDM adds a 2025 1st round pick.

Ok, well now that PoolParty has been traded elsewhere....

Chychrun + Bjugstadt (50% retained) for 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st

or....

Agreed. He only makes 4.5m for the next 2 years and you just cleared out 3M. A roster dump makes the cap work, now it's just figuring out the price. Holland has essentially said Broberg is untouchable but I feel that's the guy Arizona will target.

If I am Holland, I do everything possible to get the best D available. McDavid is already a lock every year to be the Art Ross winner but this year he's even more ridiculous.

Wouldn't shock me to see him have over 2 PPG in the playoffs after getting ~145-150 in the regular season.

He's having a season that we'll remember for a long time (unless he goes and breaks his own records again). You have to reward that.

The value is Chychrun for two 1sts and a 2nd.

Though, the trade is less janky if we swap Desharnais for Niemelainen and forget about the emergency recall/demotion stuff.

Oilers should probably go for Chrychun over the others because they are soft. Played them last week. Could tell. they not going to be around playoffs long unless massive move. However, Ekholm probably better in a way as their goaltending looked questionable. But his extra 2 million per is factor also. They other guy is their third option, he's per rental and still costs a first in stacked draft.

Both of Foegele and Yamamoto have only one more year of cap hit and aren't terribly overpriced. Foegele's on pace for 15 - 20 goals for $2.75M.

I can't see why sending out $4.6M and only taking back $2.75 to 3.1M for a playable roster player would be viewed as a negative for a budget organization?

That value is fine straight up for Chychrun but Bjugstad at 50% should net a pretty decent return.
