Wording in that tweet is weird.

If you don't report to AHL after being assigned, that's what happens, contract terminated.

Sure they did.

There is a difference between mutual termination, which is what happened, vs termination for cause, which is what you are describing.

Maybe it doesn't make a difference to you but it probably does to Bonino, which is the whole point.

He's making league minimum, he's already been through waivers, and he isn't even on the roster while Chytil is out. I guess he had no interest in going to the AHL, which is understandable. He's made his money and had a very respectable career which included playing a crucial role on two cup winning teams.

Still wouldn't be surprised to see him be a late signing for a playoff team looking for depth and locker-room presence.

If a player tells you he isn't going to the AHL and asks to let him go, that's clearly mutual agreement...

The only honor I guess is sounds like NYR gave him a couple extra days to think things over

Guess he feels he can find a spot somewhere else. Could have had worst situation that going home to end career in Hartford his place of birth.
