I think we may see some sort of 2 or 3 year bridge. Allow the leafs some cap relief to keep Gardiner and allows Nylander to prove he is an 8 million dollar player.

Non ideal for the leafs but may be the best bet at this point. Obviously the cap hit per year on a bridge will be the sticking point, maybe something in the 4.5-5.5 region ish

If Nylander is going to Montreal, think Gallagher + Mete + 2nd.
Petry is a non starter.

Ah, you guys are still sipping on that Kool-Aid eh?

Nylander has sat out the last two months. He clearly has shown that he cares not for loyalty to his club, but instead loyalty to the 0s at the end of his contract. The Leafs are in a position where they either trade him (and the price will reflect that necessity) or they make him sit out all year, effectively having 8m in dead cap in a year where they should be trying everything they can to win the cup.

If they hold onto him, it becomes a game of chicken where either Toronto takes their licks and moves him at a huge discount, or he signs and he leaves down the road.

Nylander is NOT worth what he was at the draft, and he is sure as f*** not getting a 20 year old top 4 defenseman who's looking like he has a bright future in the league PLUS a 30 goal scoring gritty two-way player PLUS a draft pick.

I would be shocked if Nylander even gets Pesce in a 1:1.

Younger? Petry?? He is about to turn 31. Easy....super easy pass.

So he would be at the tail end of his contract at 34. The same age as Brent Burns is going to be at the end of this season.

Not sure why you think that's old. He isn't signed for 7 years, it's a solid contract on a solid player who would play with Rielly or carry your 2nd pair once Gardiner is gone. He is quite literally just a better all-around version of Gardiner.

Do you really think Dubas cares about what HF Leafs fans want/think ?

yes, don't sell HF short, the fans here are an excellent barometer of the fans in general. Many radio stations parrot the stuff from this site. where do you think they get the fans reaction stuff? Do you think they're taking polls on the street?
