There's lots of people doing victory laps over a pretty bad end to a season for Horvat.

He's going to be better than he finished the year and will get to learn his team, gel with the team, and play with Barzal.

With that said, he won't be the guy you want to give a long-term 8.5 million dollar contract to.

He's a luxury second liner or can be a supporter on the right first line. But 8.5 is high for that.

Bo would have been over a $9m AAV if he had made it to free agency IMO. I do think he is a fringe first liner Center and a really good second line Center who is good at face-offs, and when the cap jumps next offseason this will be the going rate for those types. It might not end well, but only time will tell that.
