That was the first thing I said to Mrs. Hank, after I stopped laughing: "WHY ARE THEY NOT SEVEN DEEP?"

I didn't even think about the tank angle, but yes, I don't think that can be dismissed. Single coverage when they need a touchdown to beat you and have no timeouts is either insanely stupid or deliberate malfeasance.
Gase is tragically awful but it's just not what you do without a nefarious purpose. People bag on draft lotteries sometimes, but at least assholes like Buffalo weren't guaranteed the best player for their blatant tanking.

I don't know if it's possible to get Red Zone overseas, but I literally never watch football any other way.

If they had a Red Zone for the EPL, I'd never get off the couch on Saturdays either.
I have... ways. I use the same thing for NHL games. They also enable me to watch NBA so it solves all of the NA pro sports I care about (except poker).

They for real.
They pretty much just need to beat both NY teams and for Raiders to lose at least once. Outside of Colts, Raiders have a fairly easy schedule (LA Diamondbacks, Fins and Denver QBless), but Indy should be able to take them especially if they have been so bad against the Buttfumbles.

The browns need a bit of luck because I can't expect them to beat Pitt and Ravens will be fighting for their lives. Beating Baltimore might be crucial. They should be able to hold off the second team in AFC East, because Miami plays Buffalo and Raiders and also one of them is playing Chiefs who should hopefully do the job.

Jets are very likely going to have the longest playoff drought since it appears Browns and Buccaneers are on pace to clinch wild card spots.

Said this elsewhere, but I will never understand why Adam Gase got the job. I guess he had nudes of the Johnsons?

Seriously, this Jets game today may be a close second as the most embarrassing loss in Meadowlands history.

The first, of course:

The most amazing part of this is Lawrence will go to the Jets, they’ll absolutely ruin him, and 5 years from now we’ll be saying “hey remember when people thought Trevor Lawrence would be worth tanking for? Lol Jets”

And the cycle begins itself anew.

Also I was going to make a wisecrack like “Cam Newton has rushed for more TDs than [insert QB] has thrown this season”.

Then I realized that other QB is Cam Newton.
Most teams get down inside the five and have all sorts of neat passing plays they can run for "easy" TDs. We're not that team right now so they just pound Cam. We also don't have any dynamic receivers that can stretch the field for long TDs generally speaking. And Cam of course has had his challenges though I think he's been a little better than his stats given our lack of weapons. All adds up to a comically low number of passing TDs.

Even really bad franchises with really bad owners can have some success too, I think Lawrence and a new coaching staff and GM will be able to revive the Jets. We shall see but I don't think he gets ruined if he goes there.

It's not that long ago that the Dolphins, Bills, and Browns would have been looked upon about the same. If you do manage to draft a game changer or two and put the right people in place, it can be turned around.

He’s definitely on track to post one of the strangest stat lines in the history of pro sports — not football, but sports.

At current pace, Newton will finish a 16-game season with:
- 2900 passing yards 7 TDs, 13 INTs
- 630 rushing yards, 16 TDs, 6 fumbles
- a winning record

For context, the most rushing TDs by a non-Cam quarterback was 12 (and that was set nearly 45 years ago). A career total of 74 would leave Newton only 1 shy of being in the NFL’s top-25 all time rushing TD leaders including running backs, and over 70% beyond the next highest QB.

These are the kind of numbers you see in a Madden simulation where someone’s just ****ing around with Create A Player.

Don't they use different balls for the kickers anyway? I was thinking that was a thing. If the refs had been...on the ball, it seemed like there would have been plenty of time to get the kick away. They weren't, so it made things look worse than they probably were.
