Canucks 2024 2nd round pick

Its clear Devils management is not high on Holtz at this point and he could use change of scenery. Hawks lacking talent but having a lot of picks would be good fresh start location for him and since Hawks have three 2nds round picks this year moving one for young player like Holtz would not be bad gamble. Devils currently lack a 2024 2nd from Meier trade so this recoups them a 2nd

Thoughts?

Is still part of the goalie talk, so no

Devils need players, not draft picks. Holtz is going to be part of a trade for a goalie or some other player.

Holtz for a pick somewhere around the 50’s. Even if he wasn’t being dangled for a goalie that’s not enough. Better off keeping him and hoping he turns it around.

Would be no even with the Hawks 2nd...
That's horrible value for NJ

As others have said, Devils don't really need draft picks. For all the crap about Holtz that is going on, he's likely going to score 15 goals playing like 10 minutes a night.

The team is already playing Chris Tierney on the third line some nights....really can't be taking pieces of the skater group out and not have at least some form of on ice roster improvement come back

Counter: Bedard for NJ’s 2024 fifth. That pick could use a change of scenery.

Considering the current position of the Devils I would assume they would prefer trading Holtz (potentially in a package) for an upgrade on their current roster, not a pick that is 2-5 years away (if ever).

I would also assume several teams would overbid a currantly 58-64 pick for Holtz.

Odd strategy to trash kid at press conference when your trying to sell him as a high value trade asset

Might as well close this thread. One of the worst I've seen in a very long time and that's saying something.

If the Devils were interested in giving away Holtz for garbage they would have done it by now.

He is expendable for an upgrade, not for a downgrade.
