Scoring change proposals for 2017/18 season.

As this was a draft created by another person, and I am now running it I am proposing some minor scoring changes.

1. Goals by goalies reduced from 20 to 5.
2. Overtime goals to have a bonus of .5 making an overtime goal worth 1.5.
3. Penalty minutes to count as .1 point per minute making 100 PIMs worth 10 points.
4. Fights worth 2 points per fight.

Rationale behind the changes:
Removing a 20 point award for a lucky goal for goalies can alter the pool dramatically. 5 points is still a large point award.
Overtime goals are clutch goals, therefore I would like to make OT goals worth something a bit "extra".
The PIM and fighting points gives value to players who may not otherwise be considered and adds another layer of draft and team building strategy this off season and upcoming draft.

Comments and suggestions welcome!

I'm fine with all of these, though I especially the overtime goal one. I saw my players score overtime goals all the time this year and having a one point bonus for that would be awesome. Definitely gives more value to players that frequently come in clutch.

It would be a half point bonus for overtime goals but yeah I think it adds to the OT drama relating to the fantasy league scoring. Makes OT worth something. Thanks for the feedback!!

With only 2 or perhaps 3 possible games it is going to be nearly impossible to beat Tampa!

It seems like two Oilers (Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl), a Predator (Mattias Ekholm) and a Duck (Rickard Rakell) were huge for Tampa in the playoffs.

Arizona needs a huge night by Neal and Guentzel in Game 6 and Schultz/Ekholm to stay off the board. Cuz I'm not sure there's gonna be a Game 7!

Congrats to all teams who played this year! Hope you enjoyed it and while I wasn't planning on running this thing I immensely enjoyed it. Hope to see everyone back for 2017:2018!!!

Watch this space over the summer for dates on our draft, player drop deadlines etc!

Also trades are now open!

Finally it has been suggested that since we implemented a playoff (which wasn't in the cards when JM started it) that the draft should be reverse order of regular season finishers for the 11 who missed the playoffs and then reverse order of playoff finish for the playoff teams.

I'm ok with either and think I'll go with the latter unless there are strenuous objections.

Anyways I will watch this space for trades regularly but feel free to PM me or EM me any trades as well.

Thanks again for playing this year!

Thanks for running this NW. Could you post the draft orders using the different options just so I can have a better understanding of them?

Should we do a roll call

I'm in.

Congrats :bolts

Should we do a roll call

For sure and I will PM everyone this week as well.

Post if your in or not for next year and if you have two teams if you want to give one up to a new person who may be interested in joining.

I was not going to recruit anyone to join other than for anyone taking over a team from someone who is not coming back next year or wanted to just run 1 team vs 2.

So as of now there will be no plans for an expansion draft to do for next year but that said I would like to get to 24 teams from 21 but there is no rush for that.

Congrats :bolts for winning the playoffs! You were first place for most of the regular season, until I overtook you :), so at least you won the playoffs. (Though IMO the regular season is the bigger prize since it's a lot longer, but also because I won it).

Thanks for running this Night Witch! I'm definitely in for next year!

I'd prefer to keep both of my teams, :canes and :edmonton, for next year, as Carolina should be contenders for years to come and Edmonton should be fun to rebuild. Though if a new person joins I would be happy to give up :edmonton.

I'd also prefer to do the draft based on playoff results, mostly because that gives Carolina a slightly higher draft position, but also because it reflects the real NHL Draft better.

If any new players wants to take over Arizona let me know. I am fine with running just Boston. Arizona were the NWHL Stanley Cup runners up. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...

Any other teams available ?

At this point I haven't heard any multiple team owners that want to give up their second team up then it's the dog days of summer. I am gone on a short one week vacation fishing next week and when I am back I plan to canvass all team owners to see who is in or out for the coming season. The draft isn't up till near the 4th week of September so lots of time yet.

But if you want Az they are yours. They were the number two team behind Tampa in the playoffs! Have you checked their roster?
