The league has been in a downward spiral for several years ---- let's hope this lockout is rock bottom and they start to rebuild.

There'll be some pains in getting back into gear and winning some of the disgruntled fans back but once things are in motion this is looking to be the best shape the league has ever been in. This is just one small piece of that.
Don't let your blind fanatical loyalty to the NHLPA blind you to the *real* truth.
Why would you assume that it would be 4 gms + one owner vs 4 players? (edit. as Shakes pointed out I misread the article)The fact that players are even being consulted is a good move for the NHL.shakes said:9 people on the committee.. final say in rule changes.. I would assume majority rules.. 5 of 9 represent the clubs/ownership. Yeh, some power.

by the LINKED ARTICLE said:...is the formation of a competition committee that will consist of four general managers, one owner and four players. The committee will be the final word on rules changes, equipment and other game-related issues.

You got me, I only skimmed it the first time. Now why do you feel the players will be over powered by the GM and owner members of the committee? Surely some voice is better than no voice? IMHO, it sounds like this grouping may be able to eliminate the politics and infighting and actually concentrate on the game itself.shakes said:I know most people don't read what's linked but, come on, it's in the first friggin paragraph.
