When Outshooting Opponent 9-8-5 23 points
When Outshot by Opponent 19-10-3 41 points
Really, the better stat would be what is our record when we have more HD chances than the opponent? That's what the team is actually going for.

Which was the pattern early in the season with Gibbons and Bratt. No question that for this team to succeed some goals need to come from bottom six sources. If MarJo can return and play at the level he is capable of it will push Wood to the third line with the now rejuvenated Zajac and Noesen so hopefully the depth scoring continues.
which would also push Coleman to the 4th, then add in Gibbons and we are back to stacked.

Tonight was a game where they really limited HD shots despite giving up so many. At least it looked that way watching.

Kept them along the perimeter for a good chunk of the game.

This is the best news of a Zacha finding his stride as we don’t have to permanently tie him to Wood anymore, which gives us a lot more freedom in line combos.

Now if only Bratt can find his second wind.

He did have a couple of good shots on goal tonight so that's something.

Plus, he continues to at least draw a penalty more often than not when he plays(at least in this game).

Pretty close through two in terms of HDCF, 8-6 Carolina. But they went 9-0 in the 3rd. so 17-6 total. Scoring chances 34-10.

I agree, I'd like to see it, that would be interesting. I despise corsi and it being discussed ad nauseam here, I f***ing hate it TBH especially when evaluating defensemen.

I think what happened in most of those games where we won despite being outshot, is we were trading chances more in those games and the team prefers playing like that as opposed to buttoned up.

Though when we did get better in preventing shots, Cory got hurt and the goaltending fell off a cliff.

Another thing is we aren’t good at covering our mistakes. If we make even one mistake in a game, it is always catastrophic. That is were our positioning in supporting an aggressive pinch, or just clearing the zone needs to be addressed and improved upon.

We're also a team that generates a lot off of quick transitions. We saw that tonight in the 3rd. We didn't have many chances but we had a few odd-man rushes.

It might just be a style of play thing more than anything. We're a fast team with less than good defensemen in the offensive zone, generating shots and good chances off of sustained zone time isn't really our forte. Quickly moving the puck up the ice and catching team's off guard is though, and we've done a pretty good job of that so far this season. Shots don't tell the whole story too. While our defense can be insanely leaky at times we keep teams the perimeter pretty well and force shots to the outside a fair deal.

EXTREMELY fortunate to get out of there with 2 points. kinky what’s up
But it was a game I don't think we were supposed to win.

After that marathon against Tampa on the road to come into Carolina less than 24 hours later and come away with 2 points is a major achievement. I don't think a mediocre team wins both of those games.

And not for nothing but you guys were way too picky on Cangi in the GDT, he got REAL excited on the Devil goals and not nearly as excited for the Canes tying goal. I only heard the calls now cause I was listening to the radio but he's not rooting against the Devils here.

Steve goofs here and there but I like his calls when we score. Other than the delicious backhand this one's my new favorite. "Ooohhhhhh Nicooooo!!!" haha.

Steve is a big fan of this team. Homer levels of fandom. You can tell that from his twitter. He will never miss an opportunity to pump this team’s tires.

I think Chico might be the only one on any broadcast crew that loves the Devils more.

You can also tell both broadcast crews are having a lot of fun after the last miserable few years.
