West and Northeast Regional Finals are set....

West Regional

#2 North Dakota vs. #4 Yale (see in post #1 for start time)

Northeast Regional

#1 UMass-Lowell vs. #2 New Hampshire (see in post #1 for start time)

Now, this much we know so far....Hockey East will have at least ONE team going to the Frozen Four.

See ya next season: Denver, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Niagara.

Other than North Dakota's win, it wasn't a good day for the WCHA.

yeah who was that guy in one of the threads that said the east coast teams besides BC have no chance against the WCHA.
oops. how did that go.

UML/UNH should be a lot of fun. UNH went 3-0 against UML this season, but that most of that was early before UML really got going.

Also, UNH hasn't faced Hellebuyck as a UML's starter in goal either. If memory serves me correctly, the only time UNH faced Hellebuyck was when he came in relief of Dougie Carr.

The more important factor here however is where Goumas can go or not today. He got his bell rung pretty good by Nick Shore in last night's game. I remember seeing him on the bench and he was still trying to figure out what zip code he was in. If Goumas can't go today, that's going to be a huge blow to UNH because he's been one of their top scorers, particularly in the second half.

Now the good news is that Nick Sorkin's back in the lineup. He didn't really begin to find his groove again until later in the game, but I expect that he'll be in his groove today.

Should be a great game and I'll be watching. :)

I don't expect to hear any unwarranted bashing of the ECAC from here on out. Union just decimated Boston College.

Yale and UMass-Lowell have punched in their tickets to the Frozen Four and will meet in one of the semi-final games on Apr. 11 in Pittsburgh.

St. Cloud State sent Notre Dame home with a 5-1 win. The Huskies are the lone WCHA team still in the tourney.

They will meet Miami in the Midwest regional final later today. The RedHawks shut out Minnesota State-Mankato 4-0 in their semi-final game yesterday.

Quinnipiac got a scare from Canisius, but rallied to score three goals in the latter half of the third period to move on to the East Regional final later today.

The Bobcats will face Union College. The Dutchmen put on a dominating show against reigning national champs Boston College with a 5-1 win.

Two facts we now know:

1) The ECAC will have two teams in the Frozen Four.

2) All of the remaining teams (regardless of who advances from the Midwest and East regionals later today) have never won a national championship. So this year's Frozen Four will have a first-time national champ.
