York's Ties to Cassidy, Bruins Go Way Back
Upon college hockey legend's retirement, Boston's bench boss recalls recruitment days

The writing was on the wall when they hired Pandolfo last year.
Grier would be a good choice. I know he's working in the Rangers front office, and I'd guess that's a cushy job with a good work/life balance, so he may just not be interested. He was living in Needham and coaching at St. Sebastian's after he retired, but most of his post-retirement work has been in the NHL.
With Pandolfo, I remember when he left the Bruins for BU last year, there was a lot of talk that he was going to replace O'Connell sooner than later.
Yep. Seemed inevitable. Leave the Bruins to join a lame duck HC. He had to know the job was going to be his. Or at least that he would be given strong consideration.Correct predictions are rare, so I'm going to pat myself on the back for this one.
Was thinking the same thingHopefully he has an out clause if/ when the Bruins come calling
Agree and you can officially take your Pandolfo victory lap today!Made a lot of sense as a negotiating tactic with Providence. My guess is he only leaves for an NHL job.
