As he should. Traded the only player with any heart lol. Embarrassing management team
This franchise has a tendency to just punish players over mistakes. They do it to the physical players especially.

Simmonds took 1 stupid penalty in game 2 and it was over for him. Maroon and Perry took dumb penalties all throughout the playoffs and Tampa kept going back to them

Kadri's undeserved suspensions were apparently enough to trade one of our only players who showed any heart

Love you Naz!! You deserve it, what an excellent season.

So funny too

I mean.... this Colorado team is a hell of a team that can win some games with him out. The Leafs were and still aren't a team that could win when a player of his caliber is out, others would fall into the same boat. So yes he still is a bit of a liabilty. Very happy for him though, always liked having him and thought he had more potential than a 3rd line center. Cool to see him prove that.

Kadri was traded for 3 reasons

1) The suspensions

2) He didn't have great chemistry with any of his linemmates in his final year here. Kapanen, Nylander, Brown, Marleau, Johnsson, were tried with him with not too much success. His best linemmate was Marner who was never going to be a long term thing. I would have liked to have seen him play with Tavares on the wing but Babcock was never going to let that happen.

3) The Leafs had a deadly 1-2-3 down the middle but their defencemen at the time were: Morgan Rielly, Codi Ceci, Travis Dermott. The unknowns were: Justin Holl who earned his spot later in the year. They traded a position of strength to shore up a position of weakness. Barrie just wasn't the solution they were looking for but they were able to pivot from him to Brodie who's become one of the more important defensive guys on the team.

A skilled player who plays with an edge on a low cap hit. Dubas traded exactly the player you win with.
It wasn’t working here though. Horrible return for him no doubt but he didn’t fit in on a team of marshmallows. That was never going to work here.

This doesn't really merit a thread of it's own. He won, good for him but he's long gone so who cares?

I think it was more like he didn't have great chemistry OFF the ice with guys like Marleau who Dubas said set standard and hugged MM and AM and MR.
He was a little too emotional for them. For some reason Marleau was seen as the perfect hickey player. Compliant, soft, hardworking, gentleman.
Congrats Naz...you earned a victory lap.

Happy for him.

But man it's like every former leaf is winning.

Kessel followed by Bozak followed by Schenn, now Kadri.

There is 100% truth to this market being insufferable. A lot of people go "yeah sure blame the fans, media. that's bs it's the players" The same players Management, media and fans claimed we can't win with have gone on to go win cups. This market is the hardest place to play and win. Not just those guys but other guys have gone on great runs. Dion Phaneuf was a big part of Ottawa's Eastern Conference run as well.

also I'd argue Naz would look pretty nice on Matthews or Tavares' wing right about now with Kampf at 3C
