We probably could have (or should have) fired Rogalski as goalie coach too, but were they really gonna fire him because ECHL/AHL borderliners Jon Gillies and 34 year old Andrew Hammond played how ECHL/AHL borderliners would play in NHL games? Or because extremely raw, Nico Daws who shouldn't have sniffed more than maybe a handful of NHL games at the absolute most played not NHL caliber over 25 games?

I’m sorry I’m still struggling with your claim that you don’t hate everyone else.

I think we ultimately keep Ruff. Easy to scapegoat PP and goaltending issues quite a bit here and I'm not sure if we're gonna love any of the other options.

Plus if you keep him then you (Fitz) have the option to fire his ass at the beginning of November, get that new coach bump, and look like you're doing something.

I think the other thing that gets lost in the shuffle is that you can't hold Fitz accountable for Shero's follies. Fitz didn't give up high second round picks for Grabner, Subban, and Gusev. Fitz didn't pick Zacha and Blackwood. Fitz didn't pick anyone prior to Alexander Holtz. He didn't trade Hall, etc. I think that looking to get angry now that the team still stinks after one and one half Covid seasons and one semi-normal season is not a realistic time frame. Hockey teams are like battleships. They don't turn easily and intertia is a thing. It's hard to change their direction and one player is likely not the answer. If Fitz had signed what's his face who ended up in StL the team would have been better but by how much? A win or two? The goalies would still have fallen apart and Dr. Evil, Hughes, Hischier, and others still get injured and miss varying amounts of time. Now, he picked Ruff and it's easy to say that Ruff has a terrible defensive system but to be fair, Ruff hasn't had enough decent goaltending and NJ has a decent record when they get decent goaltending recently so if the deal is they fix the PP and try to reshape the team a bit to be tougher to play against and get someone decent to play goal so you can see what a normal season looks like with a not atrocious PP and at least league average goaltending then fine for now. My guess is that if the team finishes above NHL .500 next year with decent goaltending Ruff sticks around longer.

Well before Stevens took the Wild AC job in 2016-17 he said publicly that he was hoping for an opening in NJ before he took the job in Minnesota.

He resigned from the Wild after a year because he didn’t like being away from his family, his wife stayed in NJ and two of his kids lived in NY.

Not sure he would be interested or is the best candidate, but under Boudreau the Wild went from 87 points to 106 points from 2015-16 to 2016-17.

2015-16 to 2016-17
GF/G went from 2.60 (16th/30) to 3.21 (3rd/30) and GA/G went from 2.49 (8th/30) to 2.51 (7th/30).
Scoring went up league wide from 2.67 to 2.72.

The PP% went from 18.53% (16th; NHL average 18.66%) to 20.98% (9th; NHL average 19.10%).

The PK% went from 77.94% (27th; NHL average 81.94%) to 82.95% (8th; NHL average 80.90%).

2017-18: 101 points
3.05 GF/G (11th/31) and GA/G 2.79 (11th/31). Scoring went up to 2.975 G/GP league wide.

PP% was 20.42% (17th; NHL average was 20.18%)

PK% was 81.25% (13th; NHL average was 79.84%)

I'm not completely sure about him as an assistant coach, but I certainly think he would be extremely valuable as a skills coach. He has a lot to teach and it would allow him to stay at home and work with the kids when they're not out of town.

I think Boudreau would be a good fit for us (and the meme potential is through the roof), I'm just not sure he'd be interested. Say what you want to about his playoff record, but his teams almost always hit or play at 100+ point paces during the regular season. I will gladly take that and an almost guaranteed 1st or 2nd round loss.
