To Montreal:
N. Ehlers
S. Mason

To Winnipeg:
C. Price
N. Scherbak

Can Montreal trick Winnipeg into giving up N. Ehlers for the worst contract in the NHL?
Winnipeg needs a tender. I seriously doubt they are that desperate though. If MTL is smart they make this move in addition to dumping Max Pac and Shea Weber if at all possible.

Scherbak is a throw in. He’s a body for Winnipeg’s farm. He’s not actually good at hockey. It’s clear he’s busted.

By giving Price his eight years, your GM tied himself and the team to him. He has full NMC, an astronomical salary and X years of elite play in front of him. It will be the Canadiens who get to find out what X is in this case.

We can find more cost-efficient goaltending elsewhere. You do not need an elite goaltender to win the Cup - you need elite goaltending.

LOL how to have the Habs sit in the basement for the next decade!

Which the Jets have yet to find and continue to try. People say it's so easy to find elite goalies yet their are a number of teams that keep trying and fail at it. Calgary, Dallas, Jets, etc.

Going to take a lot more than that to get Price to Winnipeg, a lot more. Winnipeg wants Price they better be giving up Schiefele.

Nobody is gonna pay anything significant for Price and his terrible contract.

You just don't pay that kind of money for a goaltender or spend assets to trade for one.

Ehm no, dont want Price with that contract[/QUOTE]

This will probably be the battle cry every time Price gets mentioned on these boards. Price is an amazing player, but that contract has tied Price to the Habs for the next 8 seasons....no team is going to take on a 10 million dollar goalie.

Habs are doomed with all these bad contracts. You know MB has done a number when he’s found a way to make Carey Price have negative value.

On what planet? Goaltenders historically have terrible trade value, Price isn't exactly signed to a team friendly contract either. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat but Winnipeg would laugh at us and hang up.

Price is going nowhere, he's our best individual player and the face of the franchise. The contract is risky, will probably look bad in the future and is simply untradeable but the point of it was to make sure he will retire as a Hab.

If you re going to make a comment like that at least get it right, no contract can be more than 8 years now so yes he is signed for 8 years.

I'd aurgue Price has negative value with that contract. Great player, but a goalie can only factor in so much.

He's not a 10mil player yet, so it's still false.
over 90 million will be paid out to him over these next 9 years. seems like that's just over 10 million a year. so not false.

Price & Weber both are good players that are now 30+ years old with massive long term huge dollar contracts.....want no part of either of them now.
