San Jose retains 13% ($1.5m) of Karlsson's salary, so $10m to Pens.

Pens retained 25% on Petry, $1.5625m, so $4.6875 to Montreal.

2024 1st is top 10 protected.

Pens huh, should be interesting. Initial thought seems that the Sharks did ok given what they were working with.

W for Grier. Almost no retention, a first, and a few players that can be flipped at the TDL for more picks.
Every player they got sucks. Hoffman couldn't even fetch a 7th at the last trade deadline, reports were "teams know his game". No playoff team is picking him up. Granlund also isn't a desirable piece. He made the best he could out of a bad situation in that only one team wanted Karlsson.

People saying the Pens are messing up their future "rebuild.........Lol...,.....future rebuild?

A team isn't rebuilding with Crosby/Malkin on it. The future rebuild won't see any success for 5-8 years if they are lucky. Giving up a 1st now means nothing on that front.

EK is the highest impact player they could have brought in and makes everyone on that team better.

Rebuilds sound cool until they don't. Just ask some of the many "Rebuilding" teams out there
