Saw Av's fans on the trade & rumors forum claim that Sakic turned down an offer from Ottawa last summer that would have sent Zibanejad & Chabot for Duchene.

From now on, a failed offside challenge will result in a two-minute penalty against the club asking for the review. It’s a potentially powerful infraction. Can you imagine a team in a tight game giving up a goal it thought was offside, losing the challenge, then having to withstand an immediate power-play opportunity? It’s going to make bench bosses much more wary  and ratchet up the pressure on video coaches.

Incorrect goaltender interference reviews stay the same  the loss of your timeout. That’s probably a wise decision, since there’s much more grey area than with an offside call.

Another adjustment that will have strategic impact. Teams are no longer able to call timeout after icing the puck. The other club can still do so if it wishes, but tired defenders won’t be able to ask for the extra rest.

Yikes.

Talk about the worst way to solve the issue. Could've just made the plane rule to avoid the skate on the ice issue.

Officials can be so hit or miss with the challenges. And the plays can be so inconclusive to begin with that you really can't be sure which way the ruling will go. So inconclusive now equals potentially harming your team in the process? "If you challenge and you're wrong, you now get a 25% chance to have a goal for turn into a goal against!" Especially late in close games, when these challenges matter most, you can throw them out the window. Good grief the NHL is dumb.

The Forsberg "offsides" call in the Finals proves that the replay system is completely worthless.

The only way to solve it would have been via Magua's suggestion, use the plane of the blue line just like touchdowns use the plane of the goal line.

And at this point does it really matter what handed stick he uses?

He probably shouldn't even be given a stick, to be honest. Just tell him to go back to the Amac that played in NY and was top of the league in blocked shots.

Just a reminder that Chiarelli was bidding for Amac when Isles were trying to get rid of him. Unfortunately Homer prevailed and we are stuck with him ever since.

Flyers twitter account just posted up a cryptic tweet that just says 11am...any logical thoughts on what they're referencing?

Daly said the IIHF assured the NHL that any player under NHL contract will not be allowed to play in the Olympics.

NHL executives make me laugh. They'll happily overpay role players by really sizeable percentages but they'll hold firm with top players who can actually make a difference to the last penny in contract discussions. It's such an ass backwards philosophy that somehow none of them have really caught on to yet.
