I’m not sure how I feel about it, but that’s why a major trade for Eichel would be intriguing. All of a sudden the talent on the team on offense would look a lot better.
Speculating about Eichel on this team is like Leafs fans talking line combos when McDavid eventually forces a trade to Toronto. Very low chance of happening as it takes a lot of dominoes to get there.
On a capped out team there can be no meaningful moves until management and owner finally move on from a goalie. Once we are convinced of that happening we can have some fun but sure feels like what should have been a long window is getting shorter. That first year seemed to show the amazing flexibility you have when your veterans are mostly making 5-6m. Now with four guys at 7-10 it's gone. MAF eventually clears one slot, but would be nice if that is used on someone for 5 giving some cushion to make other deals.
