A record 15 straight 30 goal seasons and a record for 30 goal plus seasons (17 in a 19 year career). He was the model of scoring consistency.
it's hard to argue with ...
1- 50 goal season
9 - 40 goal seasons
17 - 30 goal seasons ... this is the stat i find most impressive.
he quietly put up hall of fame numbers by consistently being a very good player through his career.
i'm not saying he was a superstar by any means, or better (or even close) than any of these players in their prime, but consider...

how many times was he an all star? i really dont know - i think he didnt get it as often as he should have, especially in the later half when he played on stacked teams with other top players. he was a dangerous goal scorer his entire career, even near the end. he also was one of the fastest wingers of all time. he could skate, for sure.
He's hall worthy for sure.Great goal scorer,very consistent and dangerous.Over 700 goals will get a fella into the hall of fame....how many guys have pulled that off?Easy pick to be there.
I have a few reasons why he is in the HHOF, but I rather not share them now since im at 12 warning points.

Even by the stringent baseball hof criteria, he'd probably make it in. Too many goals to look over. His dominance was in his consistency over a long period. If he had played on one team over the majority of his career, he might be more respected. It's hard to identify him with a team. He moved around alot in the second half of his career. Great wheels and hands!

1335 points in 1432 games isnt HOF deserving plus the 708 goals he scored.Just look at these stats they are excellent and the guy was a scoring machine through his whole career.Plus a very nice guy may I add I met him when i was like 13 or14 somewhere around that age he was leaving the parking garage in his Jaguar and actually stopped to sign an auto for me and my younger brother and his friend.Quit a gentleman.

Only five men have scored more NHL goals than Mike Gartner.
Even if one uses the normalized goals system devised by Daryl Shilling, Gartner still ranks a very impressive 10th all-time with 670 normalized goals scored.

yes gartner was a huge part of the union but that doesn't take away from what he did on the ice.

He was better than a lot of players with long careers who made it in before him, such as Johnny Bucyk. Toward the end Bucyk skated a liitle faster than a turtle but he got points playing on a powerhouse team.

Well if you don't get in the Hall of Fame with 708 goals and 17 30 goal seasons there is a problem somewhere he was so fast and he competed until he was quite old. He was just a quiet guy that did not want the spotlight on him but consitently did his job almost better then anyone else.

Consistency, longevity, class and speed to burn. I think all the stats have been listed above. There's a reason the guy was the NHLPA president in the last lockout: he exuded class and integrity, had the respect of the players and was well-spoken.
The guy would sort of be the Rafael Palmerio of hockey. Steady, consistent, never one of the top five or 10 players in the league, but a guy who was always among the better players, year-in, year-out, who, by the end of his career, winds up among the top finishers all-time at his specialty.
