Who’s the better player?
Both have missed time this season but are putting up good numbers.

I have horrible opinions, lack of options probably had something to do with it lolFirst time agreeing with you
Lol MacKinnon easily clears Rantanen, what is the argument for Rantanen at this pointMakar

It’s makar and it’s not even close actually. Makar is excellent in every aspect of hockey. Guys like McDavid, Mack, Drai are only good defensively when they put in the effort and focus they often don’t. They each put so much effort into offense, because it’s harder to score than anything else.. they don’t have the legs or mental will power to properly defend. But there are plenty of times those guys puck watch and don’t even body check when the other team has the puck.
Makar gets no such luxury.
Rantanen is the defensive catalyst of the line and the anchor of the PP evident by more primary points and fewer shot attempts. That being said Rantanen’s down year defensively throws a wrench into his argument. I think MacKinnon has pulled ahead but I would certainly consider them close for those reasons. They also have similar xGF impacts and it is theoretically not easy to outscore players who shoot & carry the puck much more than you.Lol MacKinnon easily clears Rantanen, what is the argument for Rantanen at this point
